Found and ordered this compact landing gear selector assembly on Ebay. Genuine Rockwell Collins part number simply listed as "control lever" on the aircraft parts sites the web crawlers took me to.
Brand new US Government surplus old stock, looks to be 1960s or 70s, it has the correct pull out, engage push in selector gate and comes complete with 2x aviation milspec microswitches. Already bought and tested a cheap (£6) USB gamepad with shunt wires soldered across 2 of the matrix switches that I am going to connect the microswitches to when the unit finally arrives.
The guy doesn't really know what he has and is selling them for $45 each plus shipping.
Ideal for a sim pit when put in a suitable enclosure and I am looking forward to the extra tactile immersion it brings for the Rift. Was going to make my own originally and came across this one by chance and thought it a no brainer since it already had microswitches built in.
Thought some on here would be interested. I think it is a bargain and super easy to set up. At time of writing he has 9 left.
Originally thought it was a USAF flight simulator part, but apparently it is fitted to aircraft. I tried finding out what military aircraft it was fitted to without success

Cheap USB game controller that I soldered shunt wires on either side of the X and Y button matrix contacts for the lever microswitches to bridge. Far cheaper and easier solution than buying / programming an Arduino USB enumerator.
