    Re: New Quadrant controls

OK, got a spring that works just right. Keeps enough tension on the lever to keep it from moving by itself, but still moves smoothly when actuated. Took a few attempts to get a jig that would wind these springs just right. We'll see how many springs I can get out of a 3D printed jig before it wears out.

    Re: New Quadrant controls

    Here's a testbed enclosure for a 4-gang version of the quadrant...I call it a "mini-quad".
Switches are a little close to the levers in the down position, but I don't want to make this enclosure any bigger, so I may just leave off the switches in the production model.

    Re: New Quadrant controls

Here's the full-size enclosure. Had to print it in 3 pieces, so i have some sanding and painting to do to get it mold-ready. 8 Quadrant levers and 18 SPDT switches for 36 digital inputs.

    Re: New Quadrant controls

So I've settled on this for my first ready-to-fly quadrant. Keeping the controls to a minimum for now. I've printed a prototype faceplate, and will be cutting the plywood today to test for fit, and to see how well the clamp works.

So it came out really well, everything fits together perfectly, but I don't like how the clamp works, so its back to the drawing board.

Ganged quadrant controls waiting to go into consoles...if I ever finish the design.

    Re: New Quadrant controls

So this one is a little less elegant and more straightforward, but it clamps a whole lot better. Ordered some longer 1/4" bolts for the clamping mechanism, but I think this will work great.

I see many more parts behind, are you planning on selling some? (Not personally interested but many others might).

Yes, that is the intent. There are so few options for this type of thing, I thought I'd put my own spin on it. I think I can do it cheaper than what's available now.

I already have several items for sale on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/GearFalcon...platform-mcnav and Amazon.

    Re: New Quadrant controls

Still working on the mold for my clamped version, but in the meantime have this version that is just about ready to put on Etsy. I'll have two versions: one that is complete as you see here in the picture, and one that is just the panel and mechanical parts, ready for you to use the electronics of your choice and place into your own console.

    Re: New Quadrant controls

Here's my take on a 5-position Fuel Selector #1, as seen in the new Martlet. The only positions that actually work are OFF and MAIN. Left and Right Droptanks obviously don't work, since Team Fusion hasn't provided us with droptanks. And there doesn't seem to be any fuel in the EMERGENCY position. Not sure what it is for.

    IMG_20200815_163228326_compress1.jpgIMG_20200815_163235934_compress22.jpgApplicationFrameHost_2020-08-15_16-41-19.png

I'll make a label to glue on top to show the positions.

    Re: New Quadrant controls

I'm going to skip that self-contained version for now... the panel and chassis just take too long to 3D print, and the chassis is not as strong as I'd like.

Here's the version I'm going to launch with. It will clamp to your table or desk as shown in an earlier photo I posted here. I'll have them up on Etsy as soon as the PC Boards come in.
It will have 5 Quadrant levers, three trim wheels with indicators, and 36 digital inputs. They'll be painted in Olive Drab to match the trim assembly. Just clamp it to your desk, plug in the USB cable, assign your controls (and maybe make some labels) and take off!
