Who on the ATAG is also into the DCS Spitfire?

I just got myself the Spitfire and preordered the Normandy Map. Anybody else flying the spit? Doing any multiplayer?

I fly the Spitfire in DCS when I can. Although I rarely fly these days as I'm super busy with school. It's a heck of a fun plane though.

Although I will probably go to the Mustang rather the Spit...too bad the -47 isn't available.

Why? The Spit is fun, not as fast but better in a lot of ways and lot of fun. Yes it is sad about the Jog, I am reading Hell Hawks at the moment and that would be fun to to those ground attack missions with it. But again DCS being DCS, having some "CloD" multiplayer's moments with human fighter, bombers, attackers is not going to happen anytime soon

Hopefully the new map will open up a whole new realm of possibilities. That's why I invested in it. WW2 in it's on theatre will be pretty cool.

I know, but I like the BnZ aspect of the pony. It's just what I like

Great book, I really enjoyed it!

I know...but someday there might be. Maybe get some the great CloD map makers to get to work.

Operation Relinquish should be made for the DCS Normandy map once it's out.

I'd love to fly that one with the Spit IX and the Dora, Mustang, etc.

The 109 and Spit are definitely on the list now that there's a WWII map.

Hopefully we get Korea and Vietnam maps soon

Re: Who on the ATAG is also into the DCS Spitfire?

Really appreciate these early previews, Vlerkies.

Can't wait to try it myself, especially on a heavily populated map (if my CPU and video card bear up to the extra load). DCS still have work to do on the Merlin engine sound. Fortunately there are some excellent mods out there which load in easily via JSGME and are online integrity-compatible which really add to the immersion.

    Great vids!

I'm still trying to find out where the Yamaha FS1E engine is on the Spit.......I can certainly hear it when I off the go go lever.

Re: Who on the ATAG is also into the DCS Spitfire?

If your machine runs the current DCS 1.5 or 2.0 ok it will run this as well no problem.

My movie skills are very limited but if there's anything specific you want to see I can try some short clips if my mission editor skills allow for it

Needs Oar Point near Isle of White

Jersey, near St Aubin i think

Spit is about the only allied plane to fly right now. I think the .50's on the Mustang don't do nearly the damage they should.

Re: Who on the ATAG is also into the DCS Spitfire?

So who wants to wing up? I've been flying the DCS spit in prep for the Normandy map, there's a ton of servers and team speak channels but no one communicates like we do on the ATAG TS server. I'm loving the spit but really like the communication and team work we have on the ATAG. I haven't found anything like that on DCS as of yet. I always feel like I'm the lone wolf even when there are high numbers on a server.

Which server did you try? I've found that the different servers make all the difference. My biggest gripe is things are to close together. That and the spotting sucks, however DCS world 2.1 which the Normandy map is supposedly has far better spotting.

I do not fly to much DCS online unless its local for me, the netcode is not what Clod is sadly.

Now that I will agree with. I have found local servers to be better on DCS, "Burning Skies" server is in Russia and has horrible issues. "Steel Balls" is in the USA and works much better. However I like the team work common goal aspect of the ATAG, maybe with the new Normandy map and asset pack DCS can have similar. Right now everyone is learning their aircraft and maneuvers so all the servers are dog fight after dog fight. Normandy will hopefully open up mission play for those of us that prefer it.

Thats a bit harsh, its actually pretty decent on MP if you have a decent connection to the server. I typically play locally hosted co-op type missions with maybe 5-10 pilots and its great.

Its not in the same league as clod or other mmo type games.

Im in South Africa, between the mango tree and the gold mine (a few thousand km) there may be one server, periodically, privately hosted at that.
If I lived in the states or Eur I would be on the servers all the time.

Love the glare effects on the canopy perspex. Very impressive. The cockpit though looks a tad sterile.
