    Just wanna do some circuits

    Hi All,

I've just reinstalled COD after the TF mod got added to steam. I really love playing it. I've had a go at a few quick missions but really want to get to grips with the aircraft by just doing some circuits. I can see that its possible as an RAF pilot but as far as learning some German aircraft I cannot find any way of doing something similar (without loading the RAF mission and then selecting a German plane) But I would like to fly from a German airfield. Am I missing something obvious ?? I had a quick look at the mission editor but have no idea how to create a simple scenario.

    Cheers

    chris

    Hello Chris,

I'm not sure about the single player side. I think checking "take off and landings" in the realism settings will allow you to perhaps enter the campaign and just practice there (ignoring the mission objectives).

With ATAGs server 2 up (The bomber server) you can also just do your own thing on line. This isn't a combat server for the most part so there should be little or no chance of you getting molested. TBH is you take off from a rear airfield in the main atag server you should be fine as well. No icons and full engine management on line though but its great practice and much more immersive.

    Cheers

    Hi Boosterdog,

Thanks for the reply. I will try it in the single player campaign first. I want to make all my stupid errors and hone my skills in private for a bit !!

    Cheers

I can understand that but if the SP campaign is awkward for you, the rear bases are generally quiet in MP - Oh - and don't worry about making errors in public. We all do it

The ACG public server is also a nice place to practice stuff like this.

Download this Quick Mission - instructions on where place files in file. Attention to don't mix mission with missions folders.

Can start and take off with Bf 109 in France.

If you just want to practice flying in the traffic pattern, simply select quick mission-cross country. The airplane you select will spawn on the generic, grass runway with the engine running and with a magical parking brake set. To allow the airplane to move, you must actuate the wheel brakes one time. To practice preflight checklists, you need to shut down and reconfigure as necessary.

Your best bet is to jump online. Select a rear AF so you wont be bothered by the enemy (for the most part)
and give it a whirl. Best part is that if you are online and have issues or questions you can get immediate answers using Teamspeak or the in-game text chat.

It's your realism settings chap, select the one that says 'Mission Take-off and Landing'. This will put you on the airfield.

Not on the quick missions - perhaps on the single missions though.

Chris, welcome to the forums. I'll second what you've already been told; that online is the best place to learn. Choose a quiet airfield away from the action on ATAG. Other servers such as Leadfarm and the TWC practice server are also good places to learn to fly and practice your circuits, with the added advantage of targets if you do fancy a bit of gunnery.

Welcome to the Community and Forums chris draper ...~S~

Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve too...

    Windows Management Guide

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

Re: Just wanna do some circuits

    You could always try this.

    https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.c...&downloadid=58

Although it is in the single player section you have to load your own Server and do as you would for Joinning the ATAG server, from there you can choose any airfield, Any plane and do what ever you want.
There are objectives set, but as it's your own server with only you on there you can do waht you will.

I found it really good when I have been practicing various aircraft, ( not wanting to look a Prat online) Not that anyone in the ATAG community would be anything other than curtious and help where needed.

Hi Baffin. Sorry for stupid question but how do you actuate the brakes (Spit)? I am just stuck on runway, unless I raise RPM and rotate nose down on runway. Tried everything. Thanks
