Question How to see Player Skins

    hey folks,

first, sorry for my good english, hope everybody understand :geek:

i want to see the skin from my wingman where i always fly on atag's server but i dont know how to do...

one time i see that atag turned on the custom skin downloads and i get a lot of .dds files in my cash folder and some
i can see are not the original skins from the game.

the server or the game makes many stutters if someone downloading the custom skin and so i think that atag turned off
that future again... and i understand because stutters are not welcome

    so there is my question...
is there a way to see the the custom skin from my wingman if i can download his skin seperate ?

thanx for helping me to understand

    Hi Yellow26,

Sadly no since the server disables them.
You can, however, use any of the skins that came with the game.

    hey colander,

    very sad

we just try to use a skin from the game like the JUNGLE.jpg from the spitfire and put our custom skin to the PaintSchemes folder that
we have both sam same skin with the same "original" filename, than we change the skin in the plane-menue where you can chose your skin
    but without effect

i think may be that works because we have together everything same same but no

that means badly that we have to live with "shaking-wings" to identify us

thanx for your very fast replay

Re: How to see Player Skins

You can both use the Jungle skin, just make sure you have skins enabled in the "Network" settings for the game. However, you can not edit the skin outside of the game and have it work on the server.

Re: How to see Player Skins

    Hi yellow26,

    You have to:
1.- Enable custom skins on the network settings of the game.
2.- Leave the original skins in the folder where they are (i.e. do not move them to the custom skins folder).
3.- Do not edit of modify in any way the skins.

    That should work.

    Hi Yellow,

Are you sure your wingman have skin download on as well? If they have it set to default their skin will also show up as default. Make sure they have done the same as you.

Re: How to see Player Skins

    hey bliss,

    sorry for the late answer

ahm, yes we check the options and we do it step by step together...
but what i say before... that problem is only on the red side ( spitfire & hurrycane )

may be if some player fly the spitfire with his own customskin that i will see the default skin
but my wingman changed to the original and i also see only the default...

it will be a gread thing if 1C can change that for using skins with player-id...
everybody can download the costomskin or become one with email from some friend
and can put the skin in some special folder... filename like same the player-id

i think that will be easy to code because player-id must have already for online flying
same same atag get the player states...

think we have to wait for some good changes

Re: How to see Player Skins

Hey i know this post is 4 years old but it intrigued me. would it be possible for the server to save custom skins that are from members and as the server is mostly made of regulars the stuttering would only happen while they where installing skins. which would update every month or so. i dont know how practical this would be.

I can use custom skins on the server just fine.

Re: How to see Player Skins

I do not want too be a stick in the mud but I think if any skin could be used on-line it would soon look like WWI's Flying Circus!

I think the custom/default skin's are pretty good anyway!

Re: How to see Player Skins

I don't want to be wrong but the only way you have to see your custom skins it's to record a track of the online session and then process it in the Track editor or to create a mission loaded on a Lobby with the custom skins enabled.
If I remember correctly they should be all displayed then in the processed track( useful in the case you want to use them to realize a video ).
As said by the others previously actually there is no chance to see the custom skins on other planes while playing online ( except in the case that the server has got the custom skin permitted ).
