    'Allied' 2016 Movie...

    Allied 2016

Just seen this film...I thought it was very good...Good story...Believable action...and the wives will like the love element to it too...

A couple of screenies from the movie to wet your whistle...But these are the only bits with aircraft in so...

    Some Lancs...

    and a Lizzie...

    Re: 'Allied' 2016 Movie...

I actually watched that this past week, despite earlier opportunities to do so and following on from a view reviews that left me with a 'whatever well maybe' sort of feel to see it.

I agree with your sentiments Lew, it is not time wasted and I found it rather entertaining. Maybe even pretty darn good.
The cloak and dagger stuff was pretty interesting for me.
The way the characters portrayed the 'normality' of the air raids/bombings, and how sort off 'oh well, or run of the mill' it was for the times, really got me thinking a lot. A different world.

Did not really enjoy the intro scenes prior to UK, but I suppose they had to set the scene for the bulk of the tale (which was stellar), but overall well worth a viewing.

Sp00k - I agree with you on this one. A film should be made about Leo Mark's bio and his story of SOE and the real agents involved. Would make great movie. Read his book, "Between Silk and Cyanide"

    2017-07-12_22-04-59.png

In 1942, Leo Marks left his father's famous bookshop, 84 Charing Cross Road, and went off to fight the war. He was twenty-two. Soon recognized as a cryptographer of genius, he became head of communications at the Special Operations Executive (SOE), where he revolutionized the codemaking techniques of the Allies and trained some of the most famous agents dropped into occupied Europe, including "the White Rabbit" and Violette Szabo. As a top codemaker, Marks had a unique perspective on one of the most fascinating and, until now, little-known aspects of the Second World War.
Writing with the narrative flair and vivid characterization of his famous screenplays, Marks gives free rein to his keen sense of the absurd and his wry wit, resulting in a thrilling and poignant memoir that celebrates individual courage and endeavor, without losing sight of the human cost and horror of war.

By the way in the thread pic above it is a Westland Lysander used by the RAF flying for the SOE.

Looks like the audience on the right (of the studio) didn't get the memo about which arm to use.
