as it was neither handed to her by a watery hand nor did she pull it from an anvil atop a stone, she isn't the Queen.

Just some 7 year old kid who pulled a prop from a pond that's probably been used by countless low budget Discovery "documentaries" about a king who never existed.

Or I can burst your bubble by mentioning the current Royals are a bunch of Hanoverians with a dubious connection to the legitimate line of English Kings...

Who's ascent to the throne could be pointed to as the point when things started to go wrong.

- Lost America due to George's reluctance to grant some local self government

- Over-extended Empire with net negative consequences

- Indulged boorish German relatives and got Bismarck started... which led to Willy II's war and then to nasty Adolf...

- etc.

You know any town that ends in 'by' was norse...It was the word for 'village' I believe...Grimsby...Denby...Selby...All norse...

Even the language of the monarchy was french for a while...We had french king after William got here at Hastings...

So things are even more complicated.
And that is in a remote little island with few contact to the rest of the world (sorry, sorry, no, I did not write this!

Now imagine how things are in any country right in the middle of Europe with major rivers and all kinds of favourable trade routes. And still there are some numbnu... (I'm not sure if it is ok to write the last letters) who dream of 'pure' or 'true' populations.
They never existed, nowhere and at no time since the palaeolithic.

basically, if the kid likes croissants, has parents who have, at one time or another owned a VW and has visited Ikea she probably has about as much right to call herself Queen as anyone.
