Re: SAT 30th Sept 2000UTC - Axis V Allied - THE BLENHEIM BASH

That was a great evening of flying with a great bunch of people.

I can only echo the thanks expressed by all the others. These events are getting better and will, I hope, become a regular feature.

The level of fun and immersion taking part is off the charts for me. I can only marvel at the superb community that we have here in CloD. Long may it last.

Cheers everyone until the next one.

Was a great night our lads enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks to all that took part because these kind of events live or die on you lot turning up in numbers. The events are getting more popular each time they run which can only be good news for the game and community.
Well done Boo on organizing it well done all who answered the call.

Cracking evening. My first organised event and I loved it. From the comedy of spawning in on a hill (rolled backwards and wings fell off), the mullering we got at the start to the final victory in flipping the map it was a great event.

Well done to all the organisers, those piping up with useful comments on the night and to ATAG for hosting the server and TS - both coped well under the strain.

Another fantastic event and a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in organising and running the Event and all those who took part.

I have several hours of Tracks to go through now and TRY and pick out some exciting footage (Trouble was it was ALL exciting).

    Thanks all.

Anyone know how to recover a track that won't play? My first (and largest) track seems corrupt and I wanted to do a Blooper reel with all the spawning shenanigans at Kenley and Willmington but looks like that's a non starter

Re: SAT 30th Sept 2000UTC - Axis V Allied - THE BLENHEIM BASH

    Great fun, indeed.

Thanks to Boo for organizing this event, and to ATAG for hosting us. Also, thank you to everyone who supports these events. Despite all the curveballs thrown our way, the Red bombers continued to support their leader.

Our bomber sorties need to be fluid and adapt to an always changing battle. This may require us to find new airfields to spawn from, or a change of target at the last minute. The enemy's movements and weakness should always be considered.

It would seem that these events have become very popular. This is great, but we had so many bombers, that we ran out spawn points. This problem will be solved next time.

Despite the heavy losses, we still learned a lot, and changes will be made to make things run smoother. Besides, it would be boring if we always managed to sneak through without a big fight. It makes our success well deserved when we fight for it.

This mission showed some real skill from our Blenheim pilots. The assembly, take off, flights, and bombings, were by far the most impressive flying I've seen yet. For a bunch of people that never fly together like this, everyone did very well.

To our escorts, thank you. You guys are the reason we won the map. Bravo.

And to the Axis, thank you for the fight. If this were a battle of attrition, you would have beat us. Or at least bankrupted the RAF.lol

The next mission will be a big one. Please join us again.

    Cheers

A video of the 2nd and 3rd raid from the defender view will be up either tomorrow or on Thursday. We never even saw a glimpse of the first raid which was intercepted somewhere far off over the channel. The others offered plenty of action though. On the 3rd raid particularly I was messed up by a bomb dropped by a Blenheim from low alt.

Canopy was gone, windshield lay in ruins, ReVi was dead, my right flaps went on vacation, left wheel was a goner, rudder called in on sickness leave...

BUT I was uninjured and even managed to land that mess of a plane

    Too funny.

We decided to go low and I reminded everyone about the 'Snargle bomb' option. It paid off with at least 4-5 successes.

Looks like we found Karaya's Kryptonite.

we dealt with escorts and plan was to give blennies some flight hours and let them fly to france, but single 109 and 110 attacked them mid channel...

Thank you for your mercy , kind Sir.lol

It's obvious after several BOOmer's missions, that we are up against a few very well organized Axis Squadrons. Work must be done to increase Allies fighter numbers and coordination to bring some balance to these missions.

If you are in a squad, please encourage your teammates to take part in these events. It's good practice and great fun.

Somewhat ironically, 109s and 110s with their cannons are better equipped to intercept bombers, than Spits and Hurris with their peashooters.
When Galland wished for a squadron of Spitfires, I can imagine there were some guys in the other team, who wished for German fighters as well.

Additionally He 111, Ju 87 and BR 20 seem more robust than those poor Blennies.

I've uploaded my point of view of the event but unfortunately the video has been stuck at 360p for the past 24h. I really hope that it'll go up to full res sometime soon because I've already deleted the original footage due to HDD space issues.

Re: SAT 30th Sept 2000UTC - Axis V Allied - THE BLENHEIM BASH

    Hello MezzA

Thanks for all your support to date. I cant speak for Drock but Ill be looking at some point after 4.5 is released. The temptation will be use the new Beaufighter and Blenni and Hurri FB but the way in which the maps are currently set may not provide enough opportunity for this at first.

One aircraft we have not yet flown in a large formation is the BR20. This presents quite a few challenges to the unfamiliar but its not so complicated and can carry some huge bombs (albeit not very high)

I think perhaps a mixed raid of BR20s with G50 and 109 escorts would be entertaining.

From the Red side the new Beau will be a menace and so our escort will need to be very well organised no matter what Blue flys.

    Watch this space!

    Cheers
