The new landscape is really a huge improvement!
Congrats and Thanks for your work!
I wonder whether contacts on the deck will be easier to spot, now that the background is lighter and more colourful.
But what about the sound of the Hurri?
It definitely sounded different to what I am used.
Excellent stuff. Can't wait to see it for real without Youtube getting in the way. Probably get a better idea of how it will look from those stills Kling put up in the other thread. Love the way the transition wipes out the shimmering water on the horizon. The sounds are much better too I think, crisper with more of that Merlin growl.

Great sounds, great landscape - certainly looks a lot more like England
Thanks for sharing
The colour of that default skin is incorrect.
Hopefully it will be corrected before release.

Since it's still in beta, hope I don't offend.
I like the warmer hues in the new style, even though it looks from the reference photos that everything is a bit cooler (blue) and has lower chroma. Will you guys be using bump maps instead of textures for the plowed fields? It looks a bit 3D-ish, like the tunnel scene in Aladdin, and the grass is more like standing water, like rice fields. I guess I still like the 3.312.
Hope this comes off constructive... everything is subtle enough though that it shouldn't change perception all that much. I'm also one of the few that doesn't like stuff as over-saturated. I just run the game stock without shader candy.
In the last one there are some modern glass houses or the like.
The second last, in the yellowish field in the upper right there is something like a prehistoric ditch or an old pathway. I don't think TFS buried dinosaur skeletons, but who knows.
So these two I would clear from the suspicion of being 4.5 footage.
Cab anybody find other clues?
Looks amazing C:
I understand your point, but in-game it is convincingly realistic. It is excruciatingly difficult to re-create natural greens, and I think Kling is to be congratulated on his achievement. Please look at the original version of the video again. Imagine having to edit those textures to what we have now.
In-game screenshots:

It is not just the colours that have been edited, (and not just more trees/hedges) there are a lot more errors that have been corrected. Fields match each other better now where the textures repeat. Roads and dirt tracks are more realistic. It is all in the video if you study it.

Mixed feelings about this. Flat and featureless textures of grass fields are quite a big step back in my opinion, though I suppose they might be more accurate for that type of a landscape. Oh well, maybe they'll look better to me in the game compared to compressed yt vid.
I think part of my issue is that the video is youtube'd compressed. The screens look better in terms of the rice paddy effect.
@Vlerkies I was taking samples from each field and comparing them with a color picker, so it had more to do with the relationships between them on the in-game footage, not their true calibrated color. If that makes sense. On 4.9, the colors were typically warmer on the color wheel and slightly more saturated.
~S~!
The colours of the wings also changed. Is this because a filter is used for the whole view? Not just the landscape.

Gotcha
I run a dual monitor setup and have my main one calibrated with a spyder. The only reason I asked is cause an update came through for win 10 pro a day or 2 ago that for some unknown godly reason completely reset everything after the reboot.
Anyway, I think it looks good. Color wise I cannot complain, can always adjust this side as well to tweek if necessary.
It looks like, cannot say for certain, but the shimmers in the distance towards the horizon are a bit reduced? Difficult to see with edited uploaded footage, but looks better. Holding thumbs, that was really irritating on some maps.

I was confused how well the port facilities in the bay were seen in the original version (at the very beginning of the video) and their invisibility even in version 4.49.
[Edit: The Wellington is not a flyable aircraft, as might be interpreted from my post]
The landscape alterations should not affect the skins. Other factors such as new shaders my change the overall colours.
Most of the default allied flyable skins have been updated (Spitfire, Hurricane, Wellington, Blenheims, and Bf110C-6 and hopefully the Bf110C-4B), though we are having issues with the colours when used as default skins (the process of making the defaults alters the colours unfortunately). It is not certain at the moment that all default skins will have improved colours. We are working on this now.
The good news is that the new Beaufighter and Blenheim (all marks) default skins work well. There are colour issues at the moment with all Hurricane and Spitfire default skins, so please ignore how they look in videos etc. We hope to resolve the issues.
Note: My screenshots were taken with quite low landscape settings.

Banzai - the "port" you see in the original version looks like a glitch in the landscape (ie that's not a harbour wall but an errant line)
The "Port" you see in 4.312 isn't a port but the infamous "inland seas" effect caused in distance landscapes.
Hope this clears up you confusion
Cheers

" Better a thorn on the outside than a prick on the inside"
Rgr that. I checked the last week high-rez WIP screenshots and the grass seem to look better on these compared to the video. Looking forward to seeing the terrain "live" as well (I only hope that the switch to DX11 will solve my terrain rendering problem I sadly haven't managed to fix, causing my CloD install to be shelved since April. Keeping all fingers crossed!).
I think the new landscape looks fantastic, so much closer to the true English landscape that surrounds me here.
I don't see any in the clips but please refrain from using any features of the modern farming landscape like parallel tractor "tramlines" in the fields - a real immersion killer.
I was very pleased to see the inland waterways looking less pronounced - a big improvement.
Just out of interest, does the speed tree system offer a "hedge" object? Modern field hedges are generally much lower than they were in the 1940s due to mechanical hedge cutters but they were still abundant.
My thinking is that a long textured hedge object interspersed with a few trees might be faster to render?
Thanks for all your efforts. I'm so looking forward to the release.
Just to make it clear, the default British camouflage in TF4.312 had the wrong colors.
In TF4.312 there were two version of brown, ie light brown and dark brown as can be seen on the pictures above. This has been corrected to brown and green as was the case irl.
Compare to these pictures taken at Duxford
And also these
