    crosswind pedals dead

Salute all , my crosswinds seem to have bit the dust on me. I had to take pc into another room to decorate my mancave
on assembling pc again in its rightful place i have encountered the problem. So all my hardware on replugging back into
the usb ports are being recognised by windows and i get the little bing bong chime when they connect but the pedals
dont get picked up by windows at all. The MFG software is not picking them up either.I have tried all the other usb slots no chime just sits there on the floor looking at
me. Anyone else encountered this ?

    Hi Meyer
The connection/cable into the back of the pedals didn't maybe dislodge a bit?

    Re: crosswind pedals dead

Hi Vlerkies that's how I would update the latest firmware for the pedals. I would pull out the connectedr at back of pedals and push them back in wait for the chime in Windows and run the MTG update thing. But on pulling that cable out and back there's no chime and it's not coming up in the MFG software as being connected.
So are you saying that the connector socket attached to the back of the pedals might have come loose ? I shall have a look at that also if not I think I might have to strip pedals down and look at the circuit board inside. Not that I know what I'm looking for but hey at least I have tried everything
Thanks for your help btw it's apreciated

    Re: crosswind pedals dead

I just thought that perhaps the cable at the back had maybe come a bit loose when you moved it around.

Do you have another pc or laptop around for a quick check.
I just plugged my crosswinds into my laptop and got the immediate 'bee bop' usb recognition sound.
If it does not recognize on another machine next I would try another cable.

My only experience was with saitek pro pedals, the damn chip lost the programming.
I had two options (since saitek doesn't sell the chip alone), buy new pedals or (what I did) cannibalize a cheap joystick and use that chip.
Needless to say now mi pedals are recognized as a logitech joystick

Well now, I plugged pedals into a laptop and nothing happened so I will try to get another cable. Never seen one like this before so here's hoping it's easily found. I hope it is cable and not the bloody chip in the pedals itself. Then I will be up shit creek

    Re: crosswind pedals dead

    Urghh, not nice.

There are 2 more wire connectors on the opposite side of where the USB A/B cable connects to the rudder, just make sure they are properly plugged in.

The main cable as listed on their site is a 2m USB A/B cable.
I think a lot of printers use the same cable.

Older video, but shows you all the bits and bobs as he strips one down to upgrade the electronics.

Did you try another USB cable? Are the two small cables connected properly?

OT - But a 3rd option: Get a ~$6 Arduino PRO MICRO (ATMEGA32u4), flash the MMjoy2 firmware and have a customisable "joystick controller" with 10 bits resolution, appearing in Windows/Games as "Colander Pedals".

Or use a 12 bits BU0836... DSD controller boards.

    Re: crosswind pedals dead

This sounds like a ground connector/wire to me. I had broken wires and bad grounds on TM and Saitek controllers this year. I think something's going around...

    Re: crosswind pedals dead

I had this exact same issue. To fix my problem I had to keep unplugging and replugging the connector in(usb) with the software running. From there Up dating would not fix the problem, so I had to clear the program, then install the most up to date program. After that I STILL had issues, and it was the fact that after installing the update/firmware I didn't calibrate my pedals. Calibrating them had everything running correctly again.

I hope this helps, and your kilometers may vary.
