    Those bloody HUNs

    Hello guys (and gals?)

I have written some posts on the forum already, but it would be also nice to introduce myself i quess.

And of course it's always nice to have the opportunity to break the overwhelm of the Commonwealth (just a little bit)

My name is Máté from Hungary [MKHL]VO101_Mate where MKHL is stands for the Royal Hungarian Air Force, and VO101 is the 101st Home Air Defence Fighter Wing called "Puma". The real squadron was established in 1938 and they mostly flew 109s in WWII. It's still alive as a squadron in Hungary.

Motto says: "Led by courage followed by luck"

I started flying on PCs when i got my first comp. in 1996. Jetfighter3, Jane's WWII, Jane's ATF, EF2000, F-22 ADF, JSF, European Air War, Falcon 4,IL-2, Lock On, DCS..and so on everything.
I started with CloD when it came out, but my computer wasn't high-end and the software wasn't running too good either.
I love the Blitz and encourage all the developers to continue the work, it's great! (yes, left the review on Steam!)

When we fly with our squad mates we usually use own chat but when I'm up alone i join the ATAG TS, but i tend to be a "not much talking guy" on the freq. (i've got single channel, either talk or fight, can't both )
Mainly i'll fly 109s but You'll see me to fly Spits and Hurris as well.

    See you at the merge!

Welcome to the Community and Forums VO101_Mate...~S~

Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve too...

    Beginners Guide

    Windows Management Guide

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

    Re: Those bloody HUNs

Hi Mate.....great to have you with us! I enjoyed your post and the information about the Hungarian Air Force. My own Father served in The Royal Air Force between 1949 and 1987 as a navigator (training on Ansons and Wellingtons) before being grounded for bad eyesight. He then became an Air Traffic Controller and I spent many happy occasions with him in the Control Tower of various RAF Stations, listening to him 'talking down' many jet fighters. Very exciting! This was in the 1960' and 70' when Great Britain still had an air force! My love of aviation obviously stems from that time.

Like you I enjoyed European Air Wars and Jane's Fighters but CLoD is by far the best ever. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine such a sim was possible! So enjoy the sim, jump right in and don't worry about being quiet on Team Speak. I sometimes just want a quiet flight myself and everybody understands.....they are just happy we are there! Good luck and see you 'up there!' Salute!

Great! It means you will be our "know-how" when it comes to "where the hell are we" situations (no excuses!)

Yes, it did hit most countries..(in Hungary we have 14 fighters total -hehe). I met couple Brit guys in Canada who quickly found themself without a job after the Harriers were withdrawn..so they joined the RCAF..at least they are still serving the Queen
