    Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

Hi, haven't posted in a while. Did some settings with SweetFX in the past and these worked well I believed. Could not get Reshade to work for what seemed forever but recently tried and got it going with Blitz. The effects are finer than SweetFX and the best part is the Deband effect which almost eliminates the horrible graduations in the sky. Night scenes are difficult because of contrast. As always though the added effects are global so what looked great in the morning looks bleached at midday and saturated at dusk. Despite this I present here my first offering. I think it's O.K. but it has a fair way to go yet. You must start somewhere, I know that. A definite improvement!

I downloaded the program "Reshade 3.1.0.231 by Crosire" from "https://reshade.me/"

Follow instructions and if still problems check on forums, some great information and very patient enthusiasts out there prepared to help.

Once the game is running I click Shift and the F2 key to bring up the main box and can then tick off the effects required and below this make adjustments to the appropriate effects as it plays to see the changes happen.
At present I only use nine effects as these ones I like and this also speeds up the loading time. Although awkward I will give the settings at this stage purely as numbers that you can change yourself. This will show you
while playing the subtle changes involved. Give it a go and I will try improving things as time allows. On my system pressing scroll lock key switches between vanilla and Cassata Royale versions. Enjoy!

Markie, what are you aiming for with these settings? Best looking or best practically e.g. distant spotting?

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

That is a hard one to answer because I don't know if you have loaded them and used them, you like them or not, what you are aiming for and find acceptable. I really want a compromise, as we know these often end up suiting nobody in fact. An unholy mess!!! I know that because I'm married. There are the those looking at it aesthetically and those looking at it practically. Which is more important? Ten people, ten opinions. If of course it hampers playing it is definitely a backwards step and to be avoided. I miss things like everyone else. I can see problems with my settings already however I do not like the washed out and blurry default settings we are supposed to enjoy. There are those who are nostalgic and say it doesn't have the authentic feel, sorry but to me things were not sepia toned or monochromatic or technicolor then. The colours much the same as today looking out the window. I do as much as possible go outside and compare the game to reality and that is the standard by which to aspire to. That is colours and resolution, shadows and glare etc. Distance, haze, silhouettes are very difficult. So the answer to the question is for me to hit the look first and play second, that is chronologically - to me neither is more important than the other. The gamer will be horrified with this response I know but in trying to satisfy everyone few will be in the end. Spotting planes for example is a biggie for many especially in the multiplayer world of harsh competition. I will slowly tweak things, the current settings are O.K. for now for me at least. Everyone's monitor settings and preferences are different too. Lighting conditions change during the day also. I am currently writing a book (nothing to do with flying at all) and a "friend" ripped into me about everything, nothing was right with it. I said to him that any book I write is better than any book he hadn't. That shut him down quickly. He immediately shifted his gaze to the ground. I do take constructive criticism but I need reasoning and examples to go with it not generalisations like it just needs fixing. Also when I say to people "what would you like?'' some believe it is time to give me a wish list that must be fulfilled. It is not. This is a beautiful game where all the components are at various levels of competency as though made by many teams and put together. Other games about seem more consistent to me, again only my opinion. One way to make it more realistic is to hit the settings on Reshade or SweetFX as well as have the great cockpits, skins, landscape, weather etc. Ambient sounds, physics, handling too...everything a contributing factor. I will continue on it and see how it develops. Good question, thanks!

I just downloaded the latest Reshade version, and I cannot get the game to recognise it.

Didn;t have that prop in 4.312. Must be doing something wrong...

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

    yeah...probably....

    Oh - you want help?

once you've gone through the reshade assistant set up you should have two files in your main game root folder (the one in the Steamapps/common)

    Dxgi and dxgi.dll

cut and paste them in to the Core folder (Parts/Core from the main root).

Now when you start the game it should give you the greay loading box at the top (don't worry it never fully shows all the effects loaded) and in game you can hit Shift F2 to set stuff up.

Oh - and you might want to take the F2 Binding out of the top one of the two External Views entries in the view menu otherwise you may end up constantly leaving your aircraft to suicidal AI.

Hi Pattle you have to put a folder or something somewhere can't remember, it was Mindle that talked me through it and for the life of me I can't remember how to do it.
Anyway my antipodian friend there is a post on the forum somewhere on how to do it . I believe.

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

Been fiddling again today and found better settings I think. Nice reflections on water, sky bluish, water greenish and the clouds a light sepia tone as opposed to default with everything having a blue cast and blurry.
Again difficult to get everything looking good for all periods of the day. Looking into the sun we have a good glare that makes you squint and wince and decent fluoro sunsets as in nature. The clouds are bleached
at midday and well defined at dawn and dusk. Banding is happening mainly at high altitude but otherwise sporadically and hard to counter especially when contrast is involved but all told another example to test.
Great to set a mission in action, put plane on auto and just sit back and watch it as a screensaver.

The colourmatrix settings make my screen all sepia looking, what strength should this be on? I've put it down to 0.05 and it seems ok. Otherwise the settings look brilliant, thanks for your work on this!

Checked again the settings - all seem correct and plays nicely on my monitor. I had indeed omitted the strength setting although it is written on my original as 0.050 as you have. Thanks for pointing it out. I have added this above.

Does reshade not have an option to save the setting file as such for sharing?

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

Thanks, Markie, your settings work great!

I just installed Reshader for the first time yesterday with no issues thanks to BOO’s excellent instructions elsewhere. Made a complete hash of trying my own presets. LOL Took a minute or two to figure out how to enter your settings to replace the default values and it turned out great.

I want to see if OBS actually records the Reshader change effects; I think it should if it’s basically doing a screen grab.

    Thanks again!

Happy to help. It is not a final product and will try to improve further especially contrast and banding. As said in the beginning I have given all settings in written form so the person can see on screen the changes as they make them. Enjoy!

With this type of thing it is always a WIP, but thanks for your efforts.
Havent had a chance yet to try them out myself due to last weeks flooding but will do so soon, appreciate the effort

I could never get this to work before, but I'm curious to try again. How should I have my Nvidea CP/Game Video Option settings, or does it matter? If I don't like the effect, Do I just remove the Dlls from the Core folder, or are they replacing something that I need to back up and save? Any known effect on FPS?
I am already loving the way things look in 4.5, except for the banding, and I sure don't want to lose dot spotting. I do understand that it depends on my monitor and lots of other variables.

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

I followed Boo's advise, but nothing happens in game when I hit ctl-F2. Where do I cut/paste the presets? Is there a way to assign a different keystroke to activate ReShade? The older version had a user interface, I don't see anything like that here.

Edit; Okay, It looks like I still don't have the full program downloaded and installed. Where can I get a clean download of version 3.1.1 that doesn't include some kind of spyware, or require membership in a site I'm really not interested in joining?

EDit#2; Got it installed and working, following Karya's tutorial. But now I get a launcher crash each time I hit "fly" or "create". I've never had the game crash like this before, so I'm fairly certain it's ReShade causing it. Happens in both full screen and pseudo.

Where exactly can I type in the preset/profile? The sliders in the program interface work, but are way too sensitive for my mouse/old man hands.

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

Launcher crash every time I try to use the plane selection. It doesn't matter whether it's single or multiplayer, lobby or public server. I may go back and completely remove every trace of ReShade, see if it starts working again.

Edit: Yep. Completely removing the dxgi.dlls/.ini(from the parts/core), reshade-shaders folder, and both 32 and 64 bit Reshade.dlls from the game's main directory got the game working again.

Wasn't there a problem earlier with this utility being incompatible with ClOD running in Windows 10?

And a further update; It was Reshade's FPS counter. It causes the launcher to crash if enabled. Still, somehow, all of my control settings were cleared somewhere in all this. Going to have to reassign everything.

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

"Now when you start the game it should give you the greay loading box at the top (don't worry it never fully shows all the effects loaded)"

How do you get all of the effects to show, so that you can adjust them? Is it Shift F2, and then the + sign? I just read that on Google.

    Thanks,

Well done if you have a grey rectangle at the top indicating Reshade has loaded. It will vanish once play begins. Then press Shift and F2 to bring up the configuration box. Go full circle and return to my first piece at the beginning of the post for changing settings. It is explained there. Make your changes within the box that has come up. When satisfied click on "X" top right of box to close and continue with new settings.

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

"Once the game is running I click Shift and the F2 key to bring up the main box and can then tick off the effects required and below this make adjustments to the appropriate effects as it plays to see the changes happen."

    Markie.

I must be doing something wrong, because I don't get any "effects to tick off", or adjustments to be made, after Shift F2 in the box that then pops up. Instead of telling me what things to do, could you tell me how to do them? When running the program, , I tick off only the same 9 you did. Is that not the right place to do that? I also don't see any "X" in the top right.

I also get a message in the bottom right hand corner of CloD saying an unapproved overlay is open.

    Sorry to be so dense,

    Thanks

    Re: Blitz 4.5 Reshade settings.

Hi, I will try to answer simply so that it is plain for anyone having problems. I am very slow but methodical and patient, that is my way. It looks like you are just around the corner from getting there.

I will first address this - "I also get a message in the bottom right hand corner of CloD saying an unapproved overlay is open." This doesn't mean something is wrong but instead that it is not an officially made or recognised addon. "Reshade" is separate from Team Fusion but can work in conjunction with IL2COD quite happily. If anything this is a very good sign the program has loaded and and interacting with "Blitz." I have included screenshots explaining each step with a red cross to mark the spot or area we are dealing with.

    1. Open the game and you will see a grey banner across the top indicating "Reshade" program has loaded. Click "Quick Missions" for example to start process.
    2. Click on the "Quick Mission" you wish to play.
    3. Once playing the grey banner reappears to remind you to press Shift and F2 together to access the Configuration menu.
    4. Press these simultaneously and a grey box appears in the centre of the screen to make changes. By default this should be the "Home" menu and display all the basic effects you have downloaded to begin with. These have a tick beside them.
    5. Click on "Settings" to get up a new screen and go down to "Usage Mode" and change from "Performance Mode" to "Configuration Mode."
    6. Click again on "Home" top left and you will now see all the Settings to change beneath the Effects ticked. Go through and change these to all the settings numbers I have given in the post (Version 2).
    7. Click again on "Settings" and now change the "Configuration Mode" to "Performance Mode." You are now ready to play with new effects from "Reshade" program.
    8. Close out the Configuration Menu box by clicking top right on "X." Once playing the game click on "Scroll Lock" button on your keyboard to switch between the old default and new updated versions.

The picture should be sharper, more colourful and with better contrast and depth. Hope it works for you. Enjoy! Pictures below seem out of order!?! Hover over to see the "setting" number.
