    Hello

    Hi All,

This is my first post on this forum but it's not my first contact with flight simulation.I flew on venerable "Jane's WWII fighters" and "B17 Flying Fortress : The Mighty Eight". Then After CFS1, CFS2 and the desapointing CFS3, I jumped into to Il2 sturmovic, Pacific fighters, Il2 1946 and even the funny "wings of prey"

But my usual heaven was in civil sims, actually it was my job for a decade or so (I was 3D modeller for MS flight simulator add-ons and also did few stuff for AeroflyFS and Xplane).

As many people I was very exited at the annoucement of Cliff of Dover devellopment (and its release was soooo delayed...)Unfortunately as many people, I was extremely desapointed was it came out.
So disapointed that I dug a deep hole somewhere in my mind and throw Clod into it. At this time I still was a full time employee in the MSFS stuff business and I had very few time to fly other simulations but meanwhile a courageous, vaillant and talentuous bunch of people worked hard to improve what could be improved without dedicated tools... Then a little miracle happened (and tough negociation I guess...)
I very recently installed the last TF version and finally flew over the english countryside of Cliff of Dover. So congratulation to you guys. I'm looking forward the desert campaign DLC.

Hi Mix....Happy returns and a big welcome to CLoD again. Brilliant to have you here and I really enjoyed your first post. You will find CLoD completely transformed and, yes, it is a little miracle. We are all thrilled for the TFS team and delighted that their tenacity is going to bring so much relaxation and fun, to so many bods, like you and me.

I, too, remember flying on Jane's WWII fighters...the Lightning, the P47 Thunderbolt and trying to dodge those nasty, spitting AA Flackwagons. Great fun! And I had B17 too because I have a fascination (and huge respect) for the bomber crews who put themselves in harms way, time and time again. In B17 I could never get the bombs to actually drop . I'd fly all the way to the target, fire at fighters but never mastered the bombsite!

I recommend that you look out for ATAG_Lewis' world famous welcome post which is probably winging its way to you as I type. It will contain all the 'gen' you need to troubleshoot and get started. Then, download Team Speak (it's free!) and listen in to the chaps as they fly on our Main Server. You will see not only how people work together to defeat the dastardly Blue Pilots (sometimes!) but also what a fantastic community we have here. Second to none! Politeness, respect and maintaining a civilised and relaxing environment is what we constantly work towards.....and I belive we succeed in that. I hope you agree!

Get stuck in and say hello on T.Speak when you are ready. You will find many people are ready and willing to 'wing up' with you and 'show you the sites,' including me. I'll look out for you 'up there!' Good luck and have fun! Salute!

    HERE I AM!!!

    Hi Mix *...

Before I make my world famous welcome post to you (below)...I'd just like to ask that if you like CLOD and BLITZ then its a good idea to leave a positive review (in any language) in the STEAM forum...That way we will get to see more of what the TFS have to offer in the future...It helps keep THE DREAM ALIVE!...

Welcome to the Community and Forums Mix ...~S~

Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve too...

    Beginners Guide

    Windows Management Guide

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

    Re: Hello

    Thanks to all,

I'm a bit lost....what's the Blitz last update version ? The "ATAG_Lewis' world famous welcome post" refers to Patch v4.312.

Sorry for the confusion, Mix. Our Beginner Section needs an update* - thanks for the heads up. Version 4.312 was the previous version before Blitz 4.5, so please disregard it. It was around for 3+ years, so we became creatures of habit. We have recently moved on to Blitz 4.5 as our most current patch.

The good news is that Steam will update your copy of Cliffs of Dover to Blitz 4.5; you don’t have to worry about manually downloading and installing a series of patches anymore.

    * Done!
