Yep it's all true. Come to Oz and you will see roos hopping down the main street.

I hear those have sharp talons...and nasty pointy teeth!
I ran into a juvenile black bear (didn't see mum thankfully) in our neighborhood last autumn. The neighborhood before that was a moose. I also run into some weird people too.
LOL Sydney sees an actual animal not in a zoo and it makes national news.
Come to Canberra, damn things are everywhere.
Wow you have bears? I'm never goin' there!
We have koala bears but they're usually pretty waisted on account of all the gum leaves they chew on.
Oh yeah and drop bears but we try not to scare the tourists by talking about those.

...and the Koala bear isn’t a bear at all!
I am however going to take the kids to the museum in the next few days to get us some of those Drop bear survival kits.

Don't worry about the kangaroos in Sydney, I'd be more concerned about the Australian drop bears.

"There are some suggested folk remedies that are said to act as a repellent to Drop Bears, these include having forks in the hair or Vegemite or toothpaste spread behind the ears. There is no evidence to suggest that any such repellents work. "
Actually, a mate of mine went camping the other day and did the vegemite thing. And he never got bit, so i figure that must work pretty good eh.

Yup those Galars are damned offensive critters sometimes Kiwifleiger. They sure don't help the tourism industry either

We used to use Ice cream tubs on our heads as kids. Their teeth used to slide along the smooth plastic and eventually they would give up. Some became inventive and used large zip ties and stuck them through the tub so they stuck up like porcupine quills. Added benefit of keeping nesting Magpies away.
Now finally after all these years, I have also finally discovered why I was always getting attacked as a little bloke. I had the forks behind my ears and the toothpaste and vegimite in my hair! At least now, I wont have such a god awful mess to clean out of my bicycle helmet.
That's interesting!
Those Drop Bears

seem to be closely related to the Bavarian Wolpertingers

I just cancelled my ticket to Australia. Wouldn't dream about going to Bavaria ever ...
