    Remedial video performance questions

    Hi all,

I have been reading about video settings and had some questions. My fps is ~ 16 average (measured with the in game console command fps START SHOW during single player - first scenario in campaign mode while sitting on runways watching three bombers get fired on).

This seems lower than most people post. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to raise it short of buying a new PC? I am not experienced optimizing video settings so any help is appreciated!

    My PC: (lenovo laptop)
    intel i7-550U @ 2.4 GHz
    16 GB DDR3 RAM
intel HD Graphic 5500 (with 8 GB RAM) [graphics control setting on default]
SSD (with only ~ 15-20 GB free)
    BIOS ??

    using a peripheral monitor that is generic non-PnP at 1680 x 1050

    in game video settings:
    1680 x 1050 , 60 Hz
Pseudo Full Screen (if I use full screen on I get wierd behavior switching to different menu screens outside of 'fly')
    Model: High
    Bldg Detail: Low
    Lad Detail: Medium
    Forest: Low
    Visual Effects: High
    Texture quality: medium
Anti-Alias, Anti_epilepsy, SSAO, VSync all off
    Dame decals: high
    Building Amount: Low
    Land Shading: Medium
    Grass: off
    Roads: On
    Extended Clouds: Off
    Far Static Shadows: Off

    Re: Remedial video performance questions

Hi, most people use desktop pcs and not a laptops, laptop isnt recommended.
Maybe its because you have an integrated graphics which is not the same as a gtx 980m, which could be why you are getting low framerates.

I suggest you getting a desktop pc, building your own will be a lot cheaper.
For a high end pc its around 1000€, medium-high 600€, for clod medium-high is enough.

Maybe increasing your cpu clock to 3.0 Ghz would get you some extra fps.

    Thanks Maru!

I guess my graphics card is a disaster / embarassment ... I am stuck at lower fps, I guess.

Until I get a new rig, any suggestions from the experts on:

    graphics card settings
    BIOS
in-game video settings that won't mess up my ability to see and id aircraft on multi-player?

    Thanks,

    John

basically your only option on that hardware is to set everything to low in game.
34" ASUS ROG 1440p. i7 4790k @ 4.6Ghz. Thermaltake 360mm AIO. ASUS Maximus Hero VII, 16gb DDR3, ASUS Strix 980Ti. TM WH, WH Throttle, TM THRP Pedals. TrackIR 5 Pro. Oculus Rift.

    Some quick ones...

1- Disable the in-game shadows...the game will remain " nice " and you will gain 10-15 FPS more ( Options --> Video Settings in-game menu )

2- Disable the trees ( set it to OFF ) ( Options --> Video Settings in-game menu )

3- On your video card select SUPERSAMPLING instead of MULTISAMPLING

4- Set your video card on " Get the best performances "

5- Disable the core parking on your laptop ( do a Google search to find how to do it, it's pretty easy to be done )

6- Remove the laptop battery and use it directly connected to the power supply...your laptop frequency will increase a bit doing so! ( so slightly better laptop performances )

7- Make some tests and lower the in-game resolution as much as you can ( keeping the visual aspect somehow at a suitable level...that normally on a low\mid end laptop corresponds to a Commodore 64 graphic unfortunately... )

8- Avoid to use laptops for games...to get one with decent performances you need to spend a lot of moneys and with the same moneys you can build\buy a NASA PC...

9- While in-game try to avoid areas with heavy smokes and fires or with a lot of aircraft around ( huge FPS impact normally )
