For all of you with track IR, do you use it to zoom your view? or do you zoom with any key set?
Do people use the zoom +- keys or fixed zoom settings?

Hi Hoss_ster,
For track IR, a lot of us don't use "lean to gunsight" in the fighters. You can do the same thing leaning in.
On the hatswitch, I have:
-zoom in + slow
-zoom out - slow
-30 degree FOV
-90 degree FOV
Have a look at this guy's technique. I use it and works really well. It really helps to have these down for ID-ing contacts before firing.
Hi hoss...
Many use the 'FOV +'...and...'FOV -'...to zoom in and out....I think they are in the 'Camera' section of the 'Controls'...Not exactly realistic but a great addition to the game...Have them on a thumb button or something on your throttle...not on your keyboard as you need to use them in fights and not have to keep looking at your keyboard...
I don't think many folks use the 'lean to gunsight' key...

+ and - for my handy in cockpit pilots binoculars!
I also have FOV 30 and 70 mapped (also to the POV thumb hat on the stick) as easy snapable positions. So i can zoom right in if i like and then snap back to normal (put the binoculars down) instantly.

Exactly what I do, I have the X52 Pro and I port the key to the Joystick . . . hand never leaves the stick.
It's not a smooth transition (jumps) but I don't have to set specific FOV %, and you can zoom in or out as far or as little as you want.
But you do need the Bind to look through the Bombsight, right? If you do bomb.I don't think many folks use the 'lean to gunsight' key...
I don't want to derail the topic, but . . . while we're here, my Track IR 5 software doesn't seem to recognize the game as different than 1946. That is, it opens the profile I created for 1946 under IL2 Forgotten Battles, ACE, Pacific Fighters, in the IR 5 game list there is no CLoD, CLoD Blitz or even a Launcher 64, is this everyone's experience?

Simply load your preferred profile before running the game that you have created previously following your preferences ( Il-2 Blitz it's not in the list by the way ). For example here I have created a profile dedicated to each flight-sims that I play... IL-2 Cliffs of Dover, IL-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz, BOS, BOM, etc ( Note in fact that, for example, for the BOS\BOM series you need to set the TrackIR movement a little bit more enhanced in respect to the other games mentioned previously due to the different reply to the movements of the TrackIR while in-game ).
My suggestion is that you create a dedicated profile for each flight-sim you play, so you will get always the best from your TrackIR 5!

So I have a question since we are on the subject. I have noticed that some people can identify aircraft it seems alot earlier that I can. I only use the zoom in zoom out function set to the left and right hat switch on my MS Sidewinder 2 precision pro. The question is..let's say can I zoomed farther out by leaning to gunsight first, then using the zoom feature..or is there only a set distance one can zoom? I feel like some people are coming farther than I can.
Cheers
