Re: Duxford 2018 - 'Jolly Boys Outing' 14/15 July

All in all another brilliant and memorable 'Jolly Boys' weekend...I still love them even after all these years...and I'll be doing the same again next year!...I hope you chaps can make it because for me its more about you guys these days...
It's all down to you Lew as you are the one who 'corralled' us as a bunch of newbies flying (trying) around on the server. Hence the birth of the "Rag Tags".

Now two and a bit years down the road we are all confirmed friends and addicted to CloD.

I am sure that I speak for us all when I say thanks for all you do on these 'Jolly Boys' weekends and for your generosity. The fun, laughter and conversation with like minded company is priceless. Next year is a must for all of us.

As a matter of interest my wife Ellen considers you as something of a smooth talker and was very taken with your tarantulas!!!!!!!!

Re: Duxford 2018 - 'Jolly Boys Outing' 14/15 July

Last Sunday a very good friend gave me a lift to Toronto airport for my flight to Manchester - dragged his arse and missed my flight. Thankfully I found a backup flight the next night for a 'reasonable' price which he covered out of guilt, bless him. A tense start to my trip.

After a few days near Stafford at Sams' we take the train to Cambridge and stayed at a B&B by the station and attended both days from about 10am till after 6.

Me and Sam don't set up a static camp for Dux shows preferring instead to be mobile allowing for views from different areas as we feel. We travel light and with just the 2 of us we can sidle up to most any spot we like at the time. Only bugger is it's an 8 hr day with just a few rare collective minutes spent sitting down. So 2 full days of standing/walking is bloody exhausting, but totally worth it.

I had very little idea where to look for any of you lot but with most groups / families set up in mini camps it'd be hard to single any one group out, and then a bugger to pop by without disrupting others' space. Hopefully next time we'll sort something.

Shame my friend from ARCo couldn't attend - hopefully I'll be posting more on that in the coming weeks.

So after 2 hot tiring days standing / walking around we decided not to go home but instead took the train to London - as you do - Monday Uxbridge Underground Bunker / Hendon RAF Museum / Tuesday Imperial War Museum London / Battle of Britain Memorial by Westminster / Bomber Command Memorial by Wellington Arch / a walk though Hyde Park / Spitfire Movie in a 100 yr old cinema at Notting Hill Gate - then Euston train back to Stafford.

    And then a total collapse.

Fab 5 day weekend with Sam.
It's past 1pm Wed and she's still asleep.

We had a great weekend at the Airshow
We spent the 2 days in the Flying Legends Enclosure
Unfortunately didn't get to meet up with you lot and we were in the main field... We were noticeable by the large amount of empty Bud cans on the camping table ,Opportunity missed but maybe next time

Hey guys I completely missed this post I was looking out in the coming events board lol. Looks like you had the usual good time. Sorry I couldn't make it this year. I always have a conflict on this weekend, it happens to also be the RIAT at Fairford which my brother always goes to. I thought I'd better go with him this time as he asks every year lol.
Next year will be flying legends and the Eagle. I think I'm going to have to alternate between the two.#

Re: Duxford 2018 - 'Jolly Boys Outing' 14/15 July

I just got an email from the campsite telling me.... and I quote:

"It was great to see you on-site this year!"

I wonder which one of them pressed the send button on that...

Maybe the nice lady that Lew was talking to for about an hour, though she must have gone to campsites new by now...

Probably not the head of the Bicycle Cops or his deputy....

They have never seemed overly fond of me.

Maybe it was sent in error.
