just on 400km today for a pizza and a milkshake, seems like a perfectly rational thing to do.

    Installed some essential aftermarket kit.

It also doubles up as robust protection for the rear brake master cylinder, bonus.

    Re: Show Us Your Bike(s)

Great ride today, 400km of lovely dirt roads through northern Kwazulu natal.
Things got a bit pear shaped at the bottom of one of the passes, it just got progressively more eroded the lower we got to a point where I had gone to far down, and the 2m deep ruts/erosion trenches crossed my path, so laid the bike down to contemplate my mess. The bottom was in sight only maybe 30m away but no way to get there.
Had another bike behind me and stopped them before they got to my no exit point.
Had to cross the trench on the left of the pic and go down that side, manhadnling both bikes inch by inch while trying not to drop or slip into it.

Was a great day in Africa, up until this point where it became a tough hour or so in Africa, and 40DegC in the shade.

Anyway made it out all good. Knackered, need a whiskey or 3 and some sleep.

    Re: Show Us Your Bike(s)

2 weeks a go did a little day going on Wargrave-path
(sorry, no pics, enough of those on the internet, I went there for the personal experience)

Visited NL field of honor Grebbenberg, then UK/PL Airborne Cemetery Oosterbeek and CA commonwealth cemetery Groesbeek
Wanted to see DE Ysselstein and US Margraten cemeteries as well
(and a whole slew of others in the neighborhood, like Overloon, Sittard, etc, if people are interested, the south east of the Netherlands has most of them in 20-30 minutes ride between one another), but there wasn't enough daylight left
(I left pretty late in the day)
and I blew my 'fun money' on a speeding ticket, so I decided not to find a B&B and continue the next day, but visited a buddy near Goch in Germany for a cup of coffee and after that headed on home,

I was knackered when I finally came back, but that's because it was bloody hot that day (and I went out in my all-weather gear )

But all in all, left at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and came home at 11:30 in the evening, spent most of that time on the bike, and it still amazes me how comfortable the 1K is (for a sportsbike), compared to my 750

I'm now 18 months after purchase, and the odo is at 30000km, not bad, doing 22K+ in that time (though Covid helped since there wasn't much else to do besides work)

    I know the feeling bud.
Got my 790 in July, over 6K on the clock during the covid mess.
Have to remind myself to start my truck every now and then to ensure the battery is still charged and its running.

Went for a spin last week, woke up early and just decided to go for brekky.
Ended up about 180Km up the coast for for a chow, then headed inland and back south
It was 30DegC by 0900 and I saw the temp gauge hit 43 later in the day.
Actually bought a bag of ice to stick under my T as I was really overheating and had flattened my camelbak twice already.
Here's part of the ride with some scenic bits and a small pass.

    Cool down

A small pass south of mvoti river, from the bottom to the top.

My 1k has me holding on for dear life, it has made my grip stronger than that of a sloth and my thighs have been used for the inspiration of a James Bond scene

Theres a bike out of left field, nice Topgum.

Got just short of 15k on mine since i got it. Had an issue the other day with loose jubilee clamps on the cooling circuit. Anyway all sorted and service done a little early.
Fitted new bash plate last week as well.
