Hi ATAG and thanks for having me (again)

    Hi Folks

Just posting this here as an introduction. Hello! I have actually played CLoD before some years ago but only briefly, then life happened and its been a few years.
I remember the people here were very friendly and helpful, and a nice chap even took me on a tour of the theatre to try and get my bearings. So I can't wait to get back into it.

If you'll have me back, I'd love to fly again with you. Hopefully with the eventual release of the 5.0 mod we can get some VR support and I can stop using this awful hat switch!

    Fly safe!

    Hi Bellaby ...

Of course we'll have you back buddy...Nothings changed...we are still as friendly and welcoming as before...hehe

By the way...Where abouts in Brum...I lived in Moseley and Kings Heath for 5 years...about 15 years ago actually...like my 'Withnail' period I see it as now...lol

Anyway...before I make my world famous welcome post to you (below)...I'd just like to ask that if you like CLOD and BLITZ then its a good idea to leave a positive review (in any language) in the STEAM forum...That way we will get to see more of what the TFS have to offer in the future...It helps keep THE DREAM ALIVE!...

Welcome Back to the Community and Forums Bellaby ...~S~

Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve too...

    Beginners Guide

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

    Welcome Bellaby.

Still a great community, so there will be lots of folks happy to help sort out any teething problems that might come up for you.

Maybe it's time for you to try headtracking. Lots of threads on that here, and i think it's great for immersion.

    Welcome mate.

The only time one is safe in this sim is that moment before you turn your computer on.

After that, it is game on.

Get stuck in, have fun, most importantly ask for help.

    Cheers,

    Pattle

Hi Bellaby.....I know...I'm coming to this thread very late because I've been away...but I was struck by the friendly nature of your post! Good on yer, mate! Of course, you are 'bang on' about this here community! We are indeed an outstanding bunch of chaps! And we are absolutely delighted to welcome you back as a 'prodigal son'....... though, at the moment, we are a bit short on 'fatted calfs!'

The guys above are right. If you really want to take the CLoD experience to the next level then consider some kind of head tracker. It's a must!

I first went on multi-player without head tracking and ended up in Dover harbour within seconds...I just couldn't manipulate the hat switch fast enough! Just before I was hit I did manage to glance behind and saw a 109 hovering....right behind me! I've never forgotten how terrified I was or how thrilled! It looked so......threatening!

There and then I decided to go with Track Ir. It was a bit expensive (£165) but I decided that it would be worth it given the number of hours I expected to fly. I'm now approaching 2000 hours so some clever chap could work out the cost of my Head Tracker per hour and it wouldn't be that much! As the chaps have said there is oodles of info on the Forum about the different types of tracker....expensive and cheap...but try and have a chat with some of the guys on Team Speak. You'll collect info fast! I've never had a moments trouble with my Track Ir 5! Solid as a rock!

Enjoy your flying and your research. I hope we get to fly together some day. If you see me or any of the above guys on Team Speak be sure to say 'hello' and you will have a warm welcome! Good luck and.....salute!
