Thanks 1lokos
The options are opening up - after Don Bs reviews ive relooked at Virpil and found a way (its a bit of 2 by 2 nailed to me wheel stand pro - cos - I don't need a desk do I? - just the edge of it!) to support both the stick and throttle.
Ive also sussed that I don't need to use Amazon to order their stuff which suits the socialist in me just fine!!
Finally - I ive just checked the prices. I cant complain there either (and I CAN complain as most of you on here can attest)
So - time to check my finances - a complete Virpil system with 2 X additional desk mounts, plates for the warthog throttle and a 100mm extension comes in at a not unreasonable £352 inc postage but sans VAT which will add another £70. But it is sill about £80 cheaper than amazon.
In the meantime there is now option B as found by 1lokos. This could be a great plan B.
Thank you all

Whilst I'm still "meh" about the use of Amazon, taking another look through Dbourne's experiences with the Virpil stuff was enough to go look closer and work out a way of making it work for me.
The stick does miss out on the having the 4 X 4-way hats of the VKB and TM sticks by one (and the slew function of the VKB) - which means the DCS warthog's DMS and CMS functions will have to be shared with a modifier (no biggy and there are enough additional buttons to facilitate the main CMS actions elsewhere) but the (ending today) 20% off sale the fact that I can order it direct (even though its a small potential hassle with customs) AND getting a reply from them within 2 hours and at what would be late into their the evening swung it.
So a Mongoose T50-CE and a 100mm extension ordered.

In number of buttons T50 is equals to Warthog grip 19 + POV HAT:

And for A-10 you can use your Warthog grip "PnP in VPC base.

Buttons yes - 4 way switches no - but given that the pressy bits are there to use its all good - The two buttons on the main head appeal to me as its become natural for me to use similar as FOVs in and out but there is also the 2 way momentary switch on the side for that to if it suits.
The VKBs slew hat will likely appeal to those who hate the one on the TM throttle but, I find that I'm getting on fine with it. Maybe its because my employer forces me to use a bloody awful Blackberry phone I just hope it doesn't Brick soon - the throttle that is - the phone cant die quick enough!!
The prompt response remains the highlight for me so far. If the rest matches that i'll be very very happy.
