CLIFFS OF DOVER - BLITZ 4.53 is live Friday Feb 16th

Okay Guys, I am as "cornfused" as hell-
I thought Steam was supposed to automatically update Blitz now-
I still am showing 4.5 as my version in game. I DO have Steam setup to automatically sync versions.
I have 2 Cliff of Dover folders in Documents>1C Softclub- one called IL2 Sturmovik-Cliffs of Dover and one called IL2 Sturmovik- Cliffs of Dover-MOD

Am I to delete the entire folder? (after backing up my confuser.ini and user.ini?)
And after that, just launch from my desktop icon?

Game now only uses "il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder... but you should be able to drop the confuser.ini and the config files from the old 'Mod' folder into it... although you will still need to set up your joystick.

Would recommend you delete your old '4.312 Steam Beta' game version.

I had to 'verify' my files through steam before any update happened.

Go to steam library/games, right click cliffs'o, properties, local files tab, verify - if you never done that before..

ps once running don't forget to rename/delete the logo file in parts/core/gui (this is completely optional, just speeds up loading)

What version number do you get in the lower right corner when you start Blitz? You can delete both folders and steam will automatically create a new virgin one. Copy your user.ini etc and you should theoretically be set. The latest update was around 130 MB if I remember correctly, maybe the install went unnoticed.

This is all you need to do..Thanks Tibsun.


Step 1: Verify game files through steam.
Step 2: Backup confuser.ini and user.ini and delete Cliffs of Dover folder inside 1C SoftClub
Step 3: Launch cliffs and close it again. Your fresh 1C SoftClub\Cliffs of Dover folder has been created now.
Step 4: Put the confuser.ini and user.ini back in.

In your case you deleted the COD folder? You might need to do a complete reinstall.?

This is what I did. I verified my Clod Blitz 4.5 version. It verfied flies and downloaded the 4.53 files automatically. I then backed up my ini files. I then deleted my complete 1c soft club folder. I ran the game from the program x86 clod folder and ran the game once. This recreated the 1c folder. I then reinstalled my backed up ini files. Done.

Most planes use flaps for take off so if you feel that you need to use flaps, then go ahead

Some observations on 4.53.0

I play off line, creating historically accurate single missions.

1) Appearance of mission building screen radically changed
2) Cockpits - WOW. Compare them to IL2 46, BOS/BOM/BOK and you'll appreciate the detail
3) HMS minesweeper has now disappeared from missions created under 4.50.0
4) released bombs do not make any impact on water

I have used the Bf-110 with the SC-500 bombs; based on historical videos and pictures, I always use flaps, 10 to 15 deg, for takeoff (on the 109 too, by the way). With the flaps, it takes off just fine (do not take 100% fuel though, at most 50%). Tip: since you cannot see the flaps indicator behind the throttle on Bf-110, I say "one-one-thousand" a little slow to get ~10 deg flaps down.

Whether dive bombing or level bombing, if ship is hit, there is an explosion.
If ship is missed, there's nothing.

Try playing in psuedo screen rather than full screen. Explosions for all the bombs I just double checked are there except the first entry splash/skip bombing splashes.

I think what he is say is that there should be a splash in the water when the bombs miss. Unless it's closer to the shore where they explode when they hit the mis labled water tiles?? This could be in coordination with the missing bomb skip splash?? Just guessing..

Still the same.
I'll try experimenting with different bombs and detonators.
Two missions I created under 4.50.0 was the stuka attack on convoyCW7, and the Ju88/Do17 attack on HMS Acheron - both July 20th 1940.
Both played flawlessly.
Please don't take offence in any way.
We'd be lost without this game and all of you who keep it so exhilarating.
Ps
I normally play in full screen, with vert sync set to adaptive in NVCP, and enjoy frame rates of 100 > 144.
Using pseudo screen, my frame rates jumped to 100 > 500+.
Does pseudo screen not recognise NVCP?
Keep the patches coming, and many thanks for what you all do.

3) HMS minesweeper has now disappeared from missions created under 4.50.0

Because for whatever reason the British minesweeper have their name changed, don't understand why, after all is a fantasy ship.

And, similar what happen with AI gunner skill in 4.50 and 4.53 TFS forgotten to made changes in default mission files for reflect that changes in missions/campaigns.

The ship name need to be changed? Change the in default missions files.

In 4.50 AI gunner skill result too "Terminator", but if missions/campaigns has settings lowered previous the release the negative impact will be less.

Now in 4.53 is on contrary, only Veteran and Ace gunner skill worth, but default in missions continue with Rookie, Average, Ace.

Us who are "veteran" in CloD can deal with this "small details" (although annoying), but the typical SP player no, the game has not a slider for easy adjust this.

The player should not learn FMB for just enjoy play some QM of the game, this kind of things don't win heart and minds.

I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, but Blitz 4.53 would not load until I changed my Steam Settings to "Not Participating" under Beta Participation. My NET files were already up to date.

Also, Blitz 4.53 installation overwrote campaign.ini, so none of my numerous installed campaigns will run. Haven't tried re-installing Desastersoft campaigns, but they are porked, too. That should only take a few hours to fix...

Yes for most the game updated automatically without even having to anything but starting up the game. That is the whole point of using steam.
