    Video Editing, Copatibility issues

I have been trying my hand at making a few vids and uploading them to my youtube channel.

Now that Lewis has started our own ATAG channel I was hoping to share some of my efforts there, but I am having problems getting the ATAG Spit / 109 flyby intro vids to be compatible with my own vids, despite them all being in mp4 format.

I use OBS to record my vids in game, and edit them using a free program called Avidemux.

I begin by dragging the chosen ATAG intro vid onto the timeline in Avidemux, but when I then try to do the same with one of my recordings I am getting the following error message

    Capture.PNG

I have no idea how to perform the steps suggested in that pop up window to make the vids compatible.

Any Ideas would be gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance,

    Laser

    Hi Lase...

I just tried this and it works fine with MP4s...I downloaded 'Windows movie maker'...It use to be already with 'Windows Essentials' package but as far as I can make out Microsoft have now discontinued (don't know why cos its really good for beginners) so you have to get it via 3rd party...I downloaded it from here and installed it...

    https://www.windows-movie-maker.org/

Then I started the program and minimised it and drag and dropped the 'ATAG Logo Intro' into it...then I drag and dropped a 6 minute flying video into it and the program stuck the vid after the intro...Then I hit 'Save movie' and made it to 'High Definition Display'...It worked fine...Although the output movie was 660mb from 75mb movie...So it does seem to make BIG files on that setting...But it was real fast...From downloading to getting the movie done took me about 10 minutes total...

I'd suggest if you use this method once you have uploaded the movie to the YouTube channel I'd delete the big file from your PC...You don't need it as you already have the movie without the intro...Just use the edited movie for upload...then delete it...

I haven't played around with Windows Movie maker to see if I can get the output file size down...and not sure why it was so big...but the program is a real good starter program for movie makers...Easy interface and basic...and has some really nice transitions too...

    Good Luck...

    Cheers Lew

I have used Windows movie maker before on previous pc's and laptops, but didn't think I could still get it as, like you said, Microsoft have discontinued it.

Will try and download it from your link and try again.

Windows 10 has video editing in the photos app. Not as good as movie maker used to be, but very easy to use still.
