    Possible solution to launcher crash

On clicking the desktop launcher my game starts to launch then crashes, this leaves me with the icon down in the taskbar that I cannot remove.

What I have done is alt tab to get the mouse pointer back then go into the CloD folder - computer> programmes64> steam> steamapps> common> cliffsofdoverblitz, then launch using the launcher64 icon.

each time I do this the game launches and runs, I have tried it several times in a row and it works each time, but I have to crash it on the first attempt for it to work.

The only downside is when you exit the game after playing you have the logo stuck in the middle of the screen over everything so you have to restart the computer to get rid of it!

So if you can't get the game to run try this, I'm not saying it will work for everyone as I may have some programmes running that you may not have, but it's worth a try until the patch arrives to fix the issue.

    Grommit,

Please post the cppcrash files so we can look at them.

1- clean up the "cppcrash" folder located in "My Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" (this is to avoid having old files there for #3)
2.- run the game so it crashes
3.- zip the files in the "cppcrash" folder and post them here.

Hi Colander, I seem to have resolved my issues but cant exactly explain how, I uninstalled both vers 1 and blitz, then deleted the contents of the 1c folder but left the folder.

I then cleaned out any files in steam apps and just downloaded Blitz and hey presto it works first time.

I have no idea if the conflict was with version 1 but now I have cleared that off the computer it's working fine.

Gromit, I concur. Basically did the same and it worked for me as well. Got rid of all of the old stuff. Time for a fresh start!
I also made sure all of the peripherals were unplugged, and turned off antivirus, although totally unsure if that was necessary.

Eric, you can try what I did, go to steam and uninstall Blitz 4.5 and any other version you have, then go to my documents and delete the folders in the IC Softclub folder, but leave the folder.

Then go into your hard drive and clear out all clod related files in Programfile(x86) >steam >steamapps >common >IL2 cliffs of dover

reinstall Blitz 4.5 as a new game.

It worked for me hopefully it will solve your problem.

I left all mine plugged in and did not disable anti virus and we both have it working so I'm inclined to believe my problem may have been with the older version.

But I'm completely clueless when it comes to computers lol

Eric try launching the game , when it crashes go into the steamaps folder on your drive and launch the game again from the launcher there, that worked for me before.

I found I could get it to run on second attempt

Re: Possible solution to launcher crash

Someone mentioned having KB2670838 installed solves maybe some issues.

I uninstalled it once in TF 4.3 to see if it improves anything.
I had no problem whatsoever with this KB2670838 update so I just kept it installed.

I saw a post on ACG by LuftAsher about this, link below
    http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/foru...art=10#p122604

I also had no issue with KB2670838 before so it stayed on my machine no probs. Might be worth a shot if folks don't have it installed to give it a go.

Re: Possible solution to launcher crash

I see the same behavior as Gromit. But I can kill launcher64.exe via the task manager to get rid of the application and splashscreen. What does reliably start the game for me is simply clicking on the splashscreen right after it appears. If I leave it alone it will crash every time. In my case I have a feeling changing the Windows color palette causes this, or more precisely the timepoint this is initiated. Was this feature part of the beta already?

Btw I am aware of the tips posted here in the sticky and none of them apply for me.

This points to your windows being 32 bits and the game being 64 bits.
If your windows is 32 bits, the game will not run, no matter what you try.

IF that is the case, then it seems like you mixed the old game with the new game somehow or have a corrupted file somewhere.
