    Le Harve map

I've heard alot of people on TS asking and wondering if the LeHarve map will be making a return? I know I do miss it as well. Hopefully it can. Cheers!

    Re: Le Harve map

Got it Pan - thanks man!

I know why i didn't get it done - it has vehicles. I still haven't figured out how to get them working with this new version, also the dam had some issues.. So it fell to the bottom of the pile. Then I erased every mission-building related thing on my pc on a crazed cleaning spree!

So gimme a week or so it'll come back - no drive-ables though.

    Re: Le Harve map

    Hi Freya,

mind that the dam is gone, too. That dry river section was a glitch in map data which we fixed (I did ask SpiritusMortem before ;-)), so that mission target has to be redefined completely ...

    Cheers,
    Artist

PS: Maybe you could use a bridge (Brighton sea piers?) instead of the dam - with the same 'story'.

    Re: Le Harve map

Thanks Freya! Artist beat me, that is what I was thinking you could change it to but I think there is already a bridge target on that map if I remember correctly.

You can do whatever you like to it, I appreciate your efforts and help on fixing/updating my two maps. Really saves me time and brain power for other things that I'm doing at the moment.

I remember driving a little tank across the bottom of the dam, It only took me about an hour to get there from the vehicle spawn point lol

Yep, spawn point was near Deauville, I once drove a tank all the way to Le Havre, just as i got to the airfield, the map ended lol

Awesome! It'll be nice to have this map in rotation again.

Since missing map topic came up...

Haven't seen London Ruft map or Mae West map in quite a while either.
Any plans to bring these 2 back as well?

It would relieve the joy of seeing Fall Rot or Dynamo to many times ; )

Keep up the good work. Really enjoying this sim : )

Well, one could argue that it is a 'shoot-the-airplane' game, and you can do this in a tank stationed next to an enemy airfield pretty well

I would love to know if there was ever a documented case of a tank actually coming up to an airfield and shooting at a plane being pushed out of a hanger..

I'm still all for it tho..hey if you can take the time and make it here..I say hey fire away!

    Re: Le Harve map

Well, from the eastern front there are lots of accounts that fighters were evacuated from airfileds under artillery fire.
    No idea about France so.

I remember an occasion some years ago, on this map were the Germans were landed already (London ruft?). Someone drove to Wilmington and shot down each and every starting plane, while some fighters were circling the airfield, desperately looking for that strafing enemy ac
Some weeks later some one from the red side did just the same.

    Re: Le Harve map

I'll have to look it up sometime, about to leave on a business trip. There is an account of a scout platoon of Stuarts coming upon a German airfield in Africa. I believe it wasn't long after operation Torch. The crews discovered the pilots were unaware and still smoking around their aircraft and generally milling about. They overran the field killing crews wherever they found them, running over aircraft, setting fuel farms alight and even sitting on the runway and shooting anything that attempted to scramble.

I believe they paid very dearly for their success only a few days later.

And it would be nice to see this map again.

Derda, i'm guilty as charged for driving down to Wilmington on the London Ruft map and causing trouble in an armoured car whilst getting chased, strafed and bombed by very angry spitfires and blennies lol

5th of January 1941 the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars took El Adem airfield with their Stuart tanks. At least that is what Wikipedia says. The first German troops arrived only in February 1941 but el-Adem was a major airfield of the Italians.

    Re: Le Harve map

Mission is in the mail. I just relinquished it. Ended up going with a motorpool target on the north side of the river, east of where the dam was. Also corrected Rouen Boos and Theville airfields so they can now be destroyed as the briefing says, and added some airborne spawns for the cold engine bandits. (for CAI and beau/blen - as per most other maps). Briefing updated (in-game one, not forum one)

    Thanks looking forward to it!

Looks like the tank vs airplane action I mentioned above was by Blade force in Djedeida airfield in Tunisia. Trying to find an online reference for what took place on Nov 25, 1942.

Mae West is not converted because of the makeshift airfields.
Don't know why London Ruft was not converted.

    Re: Le Harve map

Thanks for the work getting this map back in the rotation, it was fun to fly it again!

I don't know if the issues we observed were a one-off thing or if it needs some tweaking, but we couldn't knock out the radar station north of Le Havre. Two white buildings appear indestructible. Multiple salvos right on target, they stayed up with untarnished white paint while everything else went up in smoke, and the target wouldn't trigger. Also 2 of the 6 ships bugged after bombing (hit, smoke stops coming out of the stacks), and wouldn't sink. The other targets (at least red side's targets) all seemed fine.

    Thanks again, much appreciated!

I can confirm something similiar with the radar station. While attacking the area with some of my squad mates, the bulidings mostly seemed to be destroyed. But the target wasn't triggered.
Also there weren't any vehicles around the target(if there are supposed to be any) and the AA position nearby also was completely empty.
