The latest Steam update caused Cliffs of Dover Blitz not to run. We became aware of the issue right away and focused all of our attention and resources to finding a fix as soon as possible.

The only culprit is a file named steamclient64.dll which came with the Steam Client Update on Wednesday, March 21st, and is (for whatever reason) incompatible with Cliffs Of Dover Blitz. This is why Cliffs Of Dover Blitz crashes on startup.

We have found a fix and the files have been sent on, so we are hopeful that there will be an update today which will get people back in the virtual skies. Thank you for your patience during the last couple of days.

Great news Artist, TF have done an incredibly good job sorting this out for all of us.

Just wondering, when I started Steam I found that it was downloading the 4.5 Version again. Don't understand why! On looking at my settings in Steam under Beta Participations (of which I am not participating) there is one available for download. What would that be?

Like many of you, I've been checking periodically to see if Steam has incorporated the launch fix. I tried launching from my desktop shortcut with the same launch failure we've been experiencing since the update. I clicked on the Steam icon in my systray and looked over my list of games. I guess I may have not paid close attention and possibly clicked CloD rather than CloD Blitz. Anyway, version 4.312 loaded just fine, but I'd sure like to have Blitz operational.

do not update/restart steam or your computer. Once you restart, steam auto updates the latest client with the problem kling.

Windows 10 Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299, and UAC is set the same as yours. I do not get confirmations to update Steam though. Weird.

I very much agree, but I highly doubt any acknowledgement at all will be forthcoming, and I pity any who have a game with a now defunct developer which was broken by the latest update... I posted the below as response to a conversation on the Steam CLOD forums where someone wanted a refund from Steam and suggested he was going back to only buying things on disc, I wonder how long it will take for it to be deleted...


Oh, I understand his point, I had the same thought after the Steam update borked my install. Although I don't think you can buy Blitz outside Steam. The Steam ecosystem is getting to be far more hassle than its worth - the main reason to use it now is so you don't have a million different logins to developers webshops, and high download speeds.

Take for example DCS world - all available outside steam, but you can't mix and match now - if you buy any of the new modules on Steam, you have to have the Steam version - and vice versa for their webstore. But their webstore has more stuff (including a bundle of the WWII asset pack and Normandy map that's not available on Steam), just as many sales, and you're only at the mercy of the updates created by ED....

I politely reported this fiasco as a bug in the Steam client, with the information that I had actually quit the game to allow the update to install, and 30 seconds later couldn't restart the game after the update, having changed nothing else. 2 days later I get a response that says "Sounds like it must be a problem with CLOD, contact the developer." What happens if this was a game where the developer has gone bust? Bad luck, not Steams fault, they just push the updates, it's the developers issue to keep checking that the new Steam client works with their game.

To me, the whole Steam thing is a bit like buying a TV at your local appliance store, but the catch is you have to run an extension cord from their power outlet to power the TV in your house. Then they vacuum the store, run over the cord and destroy it, leaving you without power to the TV and then tell you it's not their problem, go contact Sony.

As for me, this is the final straw. I won't buy in Steam anymore if there is any other option available. Steam is not being professional in launching a failed update and three days later there is no fix yet.
I mean, everyone can mess up sometime, ok, but then it is their responsability to fix it deftly. Maybe there are aspects I do not know to all of this, but this is what I see.

May I take this opportunity to thank TF for their efforts in getting CoD Blitz back on. I am sure that without their help we all may have well be confined to household chores during this week-end.

TBH, I have other software to keep me going such as FSX (mainly flying the new VC10) and Dirt Rally but really missed CLod Blitz.

Now going to make up for lost time!!

People had reported that steam beta client had problems with CloD Blitz, now since beta became the standard steam client we probably have it all.
I think a lot of people will have the same problem.
I reported it to steam, however I don't think there will be a fast support if any from their side.

I guess all we can do now is wait for steam to fix it or TFS, no one knows how long it takes.
It probably also has to do with the 64 bit version of it.
steamclient64.dll is the culprit.

TFS fixed the link between Steam and CloD on the CloD side, Steam did nothing on the Steam side.

As I think that steam will not do anything, it's probably good if we opt into Steam Beta client again, to report any new issues with the new clients.
This time we know that we have to a take look into the steam beta issues earlier, we are forced to as it looks like.

though I wasnt aware of this thread and its particular fix and it hasnt been posted to that thread (I will now do so), however I tried again 30 mar and then again today 31 mar 2018 and I bootup pc, launch steam, it says updating steam, launch Blitz and still it wont launch, its as if I never double clicked the shortcut.

How do we get hold of this fix ? I havent seen anything on how it is obtained or applied.

so I would have received the fix, I am still unable to launch Blitz.
I had after reading this altered it to only whe I launch it,

also unticked the synchronisation option lower down.

So should I set both those back to how they were ?

is that synch thing a problem ?

but as these were both 'on' and Blitz has been nuked, I dont see how its going to fix me ?

note the fix went out before my Blitz failed, something has been put on by steam since that has nuked it.

Now what do I do ? Clearly there is no fix as that has already no doubt gone on this last week via updates I have no control over.

Truly Steam can get shoved where the sun never shines ! To have a prog in control of me denying me use of something I paid money for.

I am ripping out Blitz, reinstalling via steam., but then steam will in that process ruin it again., it didnt in fact.

I used steam to uninstall after first backing up all steam CoD from my D drive then all Blitz MoD and vanilla folders and contents inc stills from C drive.
it didnt say very visibly when done but 1 of 1 complete at foot of panel seemed to be it, reboot pc, look in D, blitz gone. run the existing shortcut, deasd, run the new one it put on desktop, it then did an initial setting up, then Blitz launched.

Went into FMB and it looked different with very light edges to the grey edging bars and scroll bars etc there, has there been a facelift of this interface I wonder.
The hurricane and two british army personnel image was daylight looking as was He111 with the 'worm' pattern, normally these are somewhat dark.
Flew a quickstart and needed to recalibrate my stick and throttle, and get pedals to be seen but that might be windows at fault.

reboot pc and test again and all is good, seems to have retained my settings, shame that Hurri and the army are back to dark, as are he111 worm pattern pics etc.
They looked good the first time, oh well.

Thank you Steam, now I am stopping you from accessing the internet using windows firewall and kaspersky ! Next time test before you release updates ! (but they wont)

if that doesnt fix it then I am reinstating an Acronis backup made a week ago, and all the risks to messing up the PC totally, nuking steam, denying it any updates via windows firewall and kaspersky, then hope that fixes it. My entire easter saturday and planned skinning time ruined by this.
I have done nothing, installed nothing to cause this, the only thing that I ever see is steam updating...

Regarding blocking steam from doing updates, I think you'll be better off in the long run, if it can update. For some games, you won't be able to connect to the servers if steam isn't up to date.

Hi, I dont do online gaming, so servers shouldnt matter, and I have no other games, except a F1 Assetto corsa ? again played locally on PC.

This way Steam cannot cost me an entire day again. I had done so before then to get Blitz had to unblock them.

Give me the old method of installing games anyday.

Now I see changes to what was looking right, so unsure whats happened again. I would install 4.5 and check but not sure if thats possible this steam way.
