    VirtualCockpit?

I'm trying to find out if there's a way to display cockpit instrumentation on a separate monitor.

A guy in this thread appears to have done it using something called "VirtualCockpit", but I can't find out anything useful using Google:

Anyone know what this VirtualCockpit is, or if there is any other way of achieving what I'm after?

    Re: VirtualCockpit?

    Thanks for your reply ATAG_Highseas!

I found two things in the download section which might be it:

    https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.c...?categoryid=11

"Virtual Cockpit with Server" and "Virtual Cockpit Complete".

The former seems to be what I what since it says it allows you to display the gauges on a separate PC.

I'm having trouble following the instructions however. These are:

    1. Start VCServer.exe on a PC where you running CoD.
    2. Start VirtualCockpit.exe on a second PC.
    3. Select remote mode.
    4. Type your first PC's (where VCServer.exe running) IPv4 address (no name resolving in this version) in "Server IP". You can use ipconfig (press Win+r, type "cmd", press enter, type "ipconfig", press enter) to see it.
Also you need to check your firewall is not blocking communication on selected TCP port (8270 by default).
    5. Start cockpit. If something goes wrong, you'll see error message with WinSock error code (can take some time if you use invalid IP or port is blocked by firewall).
    6. Start CoD. As soon you as get in a plane, you'll see instruments.

I'm stuck on step 3. I've started VirtualCockpit.exe on a second PC, but I see no option to "Select remote mode". This is what I see:

I also can't see anywhere to input my first PC's IP address. Can you please help?

Actually it looks like someone else has encountered the same problem as me, with no fix ...

    Re: VirtualCockpit?

    Doug,

The VirtualCockpit version you are using has no support for LAN - only for Test mode and Local mode - using a second monitor in the same computer, for LAN you need use other version, available somewhere in this topic, look in "matweich " posts in ~2014.

    https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.c...ght=devicelink

For use through LAN select the "Remote mode (WIP)".

Anyway if your computer has output for two monitors can use one for show the instruments, skipping the use a second computer in LAN - like in OverDhill post in Bananas'forum, for this your actual VC version is OK.

    Start VirtualCockpit.exe
Select the cockpit for desired plane (can download others in the above link, including for Beaufighter).
Select the monitor in drop down menu.
Hit Start or use shortcut F9, to close use F8.

Are too the option for show instruments (for Bf 109 and Spit only) in an smartphone or Android tablet though WiFi.

BTW - To know your computer IP go to https://whatismyip.com/

    Re: VirtualCockpit?

OK, so it looks like ATAG_Septic uploaded the wrong version of VirtualCockpit.exe here:

    https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.c...downloadid=180

Post #186 from the thread 1lokos posted had the correct version. Unfortunately, this version came without any cockpits, so I copy-and-pasted the contents of matweich's zip file into ATA_Septic's, and hey presto, finally had a functioning remote virtual cockpit!

I've created a new page in the downloads section with this new, actually functional, Virtual Cockpit with Server:

    https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.c...downloadid=188

Thanks everyone for your help with this!

    Re: VirtualCockpit?

After a long spell away from CoD, I return, only to Virtual Cockpit no longer seems to work reliably.

I get lots of errors like:

Connect error: Request (code 1) timeout

Occasionally the instruments will appear and update (so it's not a firewall problem - also I can ping the server PC from the remote PC just fine). But the instruments are very laggy, and after a few seconds they will freeze with the following error repeating:

Connect error: Request (code 4) timeout

Has anyone enountered this? Do you know what might be going on?
