Having a hard time telling these two apart? Hopefully this brief post can help.
When viewed from head on as in figure 1, there are a couple of key differences to note. The most obvious would be the rounded appearance of the G.50's radial engine, which stands in stark contrast to the "V" shape of the Merlin inline engine. One can also see the distinctive intake scoop protruding from beneath the fuselage of the Hurricane, a feature that is not present on the G.50.
Apart from the very obvious differences at the forward end of each aircraft, figure 2 demonstrates a couple of other noticeable differences in air frame design. Unlike the Hurricane, the bottom of the G.50's fuselage tapers almost to a point towards the tail plane, and the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer creates a much straighter line.
When viewed from behind as in figure 3, the absence of the lower intake on the G.50 makes the fuselage appear to sit "on top" of its wings. The G.50's fuselage also appears much wider/stouter in cross section.
As demonstrated in figure 5, the wings of the G.50 have a vaguely forward swept appearance, and tend to meet the fuselage at a much straighter angle than the Hurricane.
