Hi. My callsign is Yiptoad. Quite a few years back I flew Warbirds and Aces High. I am new to IL2 and don't know what I am doing most of the time! But, I really like the game(s) and the complexity.

Hi Yiptoad,
Welcome to the ATAG forum and to this great community. It is always good to see flight simmers returning and if you like the complexity of CloD then you are in for some fun.
If you haven't already, have a good read of the 'Beginners Guide' on the main page of this forum and keep an eye open for the welcome post from my good friend ATAG_Lewis. Both are full of tips/info.
This is a very friendly and helpful community so if you have any questions just go onto the ATAG Team Speak channel and ask there.
Also if you like 'Blitz' give it a good review on Steam and let others know what they are missing.
As for not knowing what you are doing, well don't worry, I have been doing this for over 2 years and I still don't know what I am doing!!!
Good to have you here. Come and join us on the main ATAG server, Allies v Axis and get some real multiplayer fun.

Hi yiptoad and welcome to our community
Glad you are impressed with Cliffs of Dover Blitz so far.
Yeah, it is complex, and there is a steep learning curve for sure, but it's a great sim, and we are a helpful community, so any questions that you might have, ask away either here on this forum, or better still directly on Teamspeak.

Hi Yiptoad.......great news that you found us! We're all having a ball with Cliffs of Dover and we want you to join in the fun! Yes, this is a complex flight sim with a very hard learning curve but if you are interested in WWII aircraft and the battle of Britain in particular you may well find yourself hooked! We all are....it's quite hopeless....no escape for us!
Get stuck in and as Vampire says above any problems post in this Forum and somebody will quickly help you out. Getting on Teamspeak is a must (it's free to download!) as it allows you to chat to other pilots and learn so quickly! Have fun and hope to meet you in our virtual skies! Salute!
Hi Yiptoad...
Before I make my world famous welcome post to you (below)...I'd just like to ask that if you like CLOD and BLITZ then its a good idea to leave a positive review (in any language) in the STEAM forum...That way we will get to see more of what the TFS have to offer in the future...It helps keep THE DREAM ALIVE!...

Welcome to the Community and Forums Yiptoad...~S~
Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve too...
Beginners Guide
Windows Management Guide
Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...
I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...
TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

Welcome Yiptoad, it was good flying with you last night - thanks for being patient as I showed the variety of ways you can blow your rads and short circuit a sortie! Hope that shiny new Rift doesn't pull you completely from CLoD, as this really is a fantastic sim. See you in the virtual skies!
Salute and welcome Yiptoad.
Hope you are enjoying it so far

Hi Yiptoad, you will like it here, great community and great game. If you've not already really do advise getting on Teamspeak like the guys said and the advice will really help, I am finding some combat now and surviving, sometimes, rather than just getting lost and blowing up the engine
