    Good points Buzz.
    These discussions are drawn from highly subjective, heat of combat moments.
    Was it a Spit IIa with more than 75% fuel still in its tanks entering into a fight with a 109E4B on its last 100 liters ?
    The Spit IIa doesn't turn as well as a Ia and an E4B has gobs of power down low...if they feed in a few of degrees of flaps u may find the 109 hard to shake.
    Controlled testing with experienced pilots is the only way to get actual data.

    I don't know enough about the science of flight to contribute to the discussion, but I do know that you're a great pilot and I've been shot down 9 times out of 10 when you're on my six! And you also usually slip through my fingers even in situations in which I have the advantage on you, save for lucky shots on a couple of occasions.

    I invite you all to watch the entire video, but please focus between minute 6 to 8:32. Maybe the first man is only an historician, but the oldies made the history. This is only an example of a lot real WW2 fighter pilot, from both sides explaining their experiences in combat. German aces never talk about entering in an evoluting dogfight, I never found any interview talking about that. The noobs who dared entering can't talk, they were killed as the british noobs who tried to chase a 109 vertically. They both are at the bottom of the channel.
