August 27th Interim Update - Alpha Testing

    Hello All

Below is a youtube link to an excerpt from testing.

Alpha Map, Alpha Aircraft, Alpha Cockpit, Alpha everything.

Not an edited video... recorded live with me switching views to provide some variation.

Please excuse the poor gunnery... with demands of TF have not been flying much lately and my skills have suffered.

This is not an official update that will come in September with much more news and new aircraft.

Re: August 27th Interim Update - Alpha Testing

Buzzsaw, as mentioned on the BoS forum, there is a noticeable pause at the 1m 5s mark when the first shells hit (you miss on the first pass), this happens in the current game and I wonder if it can be resolved?

Second question, can we see it in daylight?

Third question, regarding the map tool and reports you now have it working, have you been able to solve the water depth in the current map so aircraft and bombs do not explode on the land tiles about a metre under the water.

Finally (and I appreciate you can't reveal the schedule but that you are on schedule) this is alpha, alpha, alpha. This does suggest that as we are effectively in September that with this still in Alpha and no sign of the flyable Wellington, P-40's, 108, Dewoitine, ground vehicles, vehicles crossing bridges, etc, etc then also the bug fixes done on the old map, the new effects including the complete rewrite of the soundbank, new visual effects, etc, etc that with 3 months left until the Christmas run up that getting into Beta testing for all of that before the end of the year is impossible for such a small team? The worry is that if this development creeps into next year, it will clash with Bodenplatte release and 1C will put Tobruk's release back to the baron flight sim period of summer 2019.

What do you now see as a realistic release schedule, pre or post Christmas 2018?

    Cheers, MP

    Hello Neil

    Lots of questions.

First of all, TF is on schedule.

2nd, as the elements of the release are completed or brought through the stages of Alpha and Beta we will post updates on this forum, on the 1C forum and elsewhere.

3rd, it is not TF's responsiblity to announce release dates, you know that as well as I do... having been in TF... it is 1C's responsibility.

    Thanks again for your interest.

Ha! Just yesterday I was wondering "I wonder when TF will show off the new map?" and here it is!

Looks pretty neat so far. Although I also am interested in more of the bug-fixes rather than the new content to be fair, this new stuff will surely be interesting to try out.

Those projects you mention - They aren't produced in sequence, they are done in parallel. Things will come together in the end. Projects that are finished will combine with presently unfinished projects... and a lot has been done within a short amount of time ... things you will be unaware of...

charlie19, I do know of a way for you to watch the video. This is not a fix for the black box, but right click on the black box, go to properties, copy and paste the https address to your browsers URL address line and hit enter, another window will open allowing you to view the video. You can also right click the black box then create shortcut which it will place on your desktop, and you can watch the video from there at your leisure.

Re: August 27th Interim Update - Alpha Testing

Exciting stuff this Alpha,& I assume that Beta is coming up soon & then this 109F will be one of the several ready for release with v 5.0 but I do have a question are the rest of the aircraft 9 the P-40, Wildcat,Gladiator, Wellington etc.,) nearly as close to Alpha & Beta? I mean are they being developed roughly in parallel or more in sequence,so that one gets done & then full attention is spent on the next in line. I've, of course watched the progress reports in updates & assume different teams are working on different planes, correct? I was wondering if they are roughly in the same general place on each of the new aircraft...? Waiting patiently!

Sorry I just went thru previous postings on this thread & saw my question has been asked & answered...so I guess ignore the above..

TFS only has a handful of modelers, so most of us are working on two or three aircraft at a time. Just the way it is right now. Sometimes some of us have to take over modeling from others for various reasons.

The Gladiator and Cr.42 are in game and in testing. The IIb and Va are also in game and under testing, same with the 109Fs. The Vb and Tropical are in the pipline, as is the Welly. Other aircraft like the P-40, Martlet, D.520, so on are either finished and are in line to import, or are basically finished with a few small things left but still in line to get imported. Those small things some aircraft need can get added or finished quickly, but we need to see them in game to make adjustments to elements, especially textures.
