    2080 ti

So... anyone felt the uncontrollable urge to buy one?

(not me as i have a slight classic car obsessiona nd need new motorbike kit etc.... )

I'm curious though to hear what it can do. Presumably a worth upgrade if yu have twin 4k VR or some such magical wonder !

    Re: 2080 ti

I don't have it, but having looked into my chosen
and serious benchmarks and tech channels, it got besides no working RTX in games yet good value.
Performance gain of the FE edition against the 1080 ti ~25%. Good overclocking when cooled good or with a good cooler on it. Is it worth a 70% higher price tag? Well you decide...

    Re: 2080 ti

Doesn't seem to be worth it just yet. Unless you seriously have a desire to play a game with RTX (and that's pretty much just the new Battlefield at this point) there isn't really a point.

Later on once the price drops a bit and maybe more games start using RTX I'm sure lots of people will get this card. But it's just coming out, no need to go for one right away when the 1080 still does the job for a high-end card.

Not that it matter for me, I can't afford any of those and currently don't even have a flight sim setup where I'm at!

    Re: 2080 ti

I bought a new Rig some month ago , with a 1080TI , I aimed for next generation VR. And it seems like this one is the right one for it. But what if it isn't ?
I learned the expensive way that it is no point equipping your rig for next generation anything, it will probably not be enough.
So if I bought a new GPU , I wait for the reason to buy it, and then see if there is a 3080TI coming at the same time. If you not going VR a 2010 is a utter waste of money, if you aim for next gen VR
2080ti might be a utter waste of money

    Very true...

Also only worth doing if the rest of your rig is top end too.

No point putting a turbo charger on a peddle car.

    Re: 2080 ti

I normally grab the TI's when they are released but not this one, at least for a while. Also my 1080ti is hardly ever creaking at the seams, we need big moves forward in cpu's.

The reviews are not very complimentary on the performance increase and it is arguably the worst bang for buck ever with a new architecture release. Ray tracing isn't even a thing right now, but expect that's where the cards will shine.

Also super expensive over here. The online shops here have them at almost a 50% premium to what my 1080ti cost. My 1080ti and 980ti it was like maybe 10-15% premium if I remember correctly.

Would love one, but think I will hang on till next year.

That's pretty much where I'm at with it too.

Normally the next ti..... yep.... save up and get one...

    But......

The 1080ti isn't struggling. At all.

And im not running dual 4k... so....

Maybe when the next gen VR headsets come along.

    Right now im sitting tight.

    Re: 2080 ti

I don't get the criticism on the price, every new Nvidia release starts around the $1000 mark, what I am afraid of is that due to the mining craze, retailers will think they can keep prices artificially high
(Current cards STILL aren't dropping in value)
I've been eyeing developments so I can replace my 970 for the next logical evolution (1070/1070TI) of that card, but I'm not paying twice the price of that, nor will I do so for the next logical evolution after that

Although the 2080 ti is for sure a good video card for the moment I will stick with my 1080ti...
Frau Mölders said ( or better said she ordered ) that it's " not yet " the right time for another 1000+ euros investment on a new NVidia video card...
... except in case that I do want to move immediately to play my flight sims on the house's landing...

If you owned a GTX1000 series. A Free-Sync monitor would be the next logical hardware upgrade. I can't afford another Nvidia (G-Sync monitor) product, for now.

Gsync is really good. As long as you enable fast sync in the nvidia control panel.

    Ordered....

Purely as a prequel for a VR headset update some time in August... still undecided about the HP Reverb (big resolution at 90hz) and the Valve index (less resolution at 120-144hz)

and then no doubt the whole cycle will continue to roll on... new chip./.. new mother board and chip

Then a new style of electricty

    new cybornetic implant for imortality

    DAMN!...

    Stupid thing is broken.

    Succumbed to temptation hehe

Enjoy and let us know your thoughts.
For VR or 4K I think the performance difference will be notable.

I'm running 1440p so still good this side and also still on the fence with VR, Probably due to my location as it just costs so much to get it here.

The temptation grows though and the biggest hurdle for me is deciding on which one I would want to buy.

    Hi all,

For those of you looking at something way cheaper, I've been really happy with my GTX 1660 (finally installed it last night). Finally have a computer that's not running everything on medium-low.

I've heard it does pretty decent with VR, but that's a big expense for another time. It did require a new PSU though with the new PCIE+ connector.

*edit: I managed BOS and Cliffs maxed out on 1080p just fine. And it runs the new Substance Painter! yepee.

€479 for the cheapest 2070, that's still €100 more than I paid for my 970, and I bought that one on release

Splurged for a new GPU last friday, got myself a 1660 super, prices for the RTX cards are still unacceptable

Pushing it through its paces with MSI Afterburner, seems to hold rather steady at 2070mhz on the core and 7900mhz on the memory on CloD (all settings on High)
but stressing it on Kombustor it resets the GPU on those settings, so I'm gonna need to throttle back a bit

As for VR (which is the reason for the upgrade) I'm noticing an improvement in the imagequality, hoping I can push some more fps out as well
