    How Long is your Beard?

    Well,
By now you original seniors must have beards down to your belt line.

I bet you look cool on your Harley Snapper. Two streamers reaching back from your shoulders. Shades of ZZ Top.

Just dropping by to see what's happening and what kind of changes.

    Cheers,
    Cats . . .

Ha! Great to see ya, Cats! How’ve ya been?

It’s been too long since you were the scourge of the Blue fliers.

Hope you stick around a bit, mate.

    Cheers,

    Snap

    Hi Snap,
Flew a bit over London yesterday and it sure is strange getting the Spit trimmed up - but I managed.
Tell me, is there an audio file available for the Merlin?

Overall, it has been a tough 3 years as Lyda my late wife was in decline from a neurological disease and I was a full time care-giver. The last 8 months highly intensive until she passed away this Aug. 6.

That's pretty much the reason I withdrew from simming. I'm only now sitting down at my computer and revisiting and resetting my HOTAS for the various sims I own.

My flight gear is pretty hybrid right now with a WARTHOG throttle and a VKB GUNFIGHTER stick and SAITEK Pedals.

My brain hurts from getting all the gear setup with their disparate programming.

I hope to get into a bit of Blue/Red conflict when I get myself requalified.

Looking forward to the Spit V with Hispanos.

    Cheers for now,
    Cats . . .

Thanks Lewis, trying to get things setup again.

Some differences between the DCS Spit and TF's. But, ATAG's gameplay is still the best and so is the damage model. I remember struggling over it and the weapons modelling a few years back when working for a short time with TF.

Hope to meet up with you in the skies.

Hi Catseye..... I've only been flying since January 2016, so I'm not sure we have actually met but it struck me that you must have had a pretty tough time lately! I'm really sorry to hear that. However, it sounds to me like you are getting yourself up and organised and moving forward! And you are nearly ready to get 'up and at 'em! Brilliant!

Us Reds need all the help we can get!

I really hope that CLoD, in it's trivial way, can help you find the way back from difficult days. I know it has helped others....and remember, you have a whole gang of friends here, both old and new, waiting and willing to 'wing up' with you. Keep at it, Mate....and I hope to meet you in our Cliffs skies very soon! Good luck! Salute!

My heartfelt sympathies goes to you Cat. Being left behind like that must be heartbreaking and if she was in pain a strange kind of relief mixed in it.

    Hi Marlow,
    Thanks for your kind words.

Interesting enough, I have indeed got many friends on this site even though I've been away for a bit taking on difficult challenges.

It feels good to be back in the cockpit again. It helps me take my mind of issues and I can focus again on all the stuff I've "forgotten" so I should be easy pickin's.

    Cheers and thanks again,

    Hi LuseKofte:

Thank you for your thoughts. It is so very, very true - "you have to manage".

But, the sound of a Merlin helps distract my thoughts in a good way otherwise loneliness takes big chunks out of my heart if I don't.

    My best to you,

Re: How Long is your Beard?

So sorry for all the grief you must be feeling, mate.
I never was able to grow a decent beard until last year. I have one now that I am old and retired. I started growing it as a sort of compensation for losing all my hair to chemo early last year. I am doing much better now, for the time being, and my head hair has grown back nicely and my beard needs occasional trimming. I think my wife won't be delighted, but one of my New Year's resolutions is to spend just a little more time online in ATAG, getting to know some of the folks here.
How I'm going to squeeze it in with Irish Fiddle, singing, and fly fishing I don't know yet, but I've got to get the most out of this retirement thing.
Grief is an odd thing, there are no guidelines for getting through that wilderness. I wish you all the best as you go through this part of your journey. Perhaps we'll meet in the virtual skies sometime soon.
