DIY Perripherals - This time its PinBall !

Ok... so I'm at it again!

This time i want to make a contoller for Pinball FX3.

Problem with Pinball FX3 is that it will ONLY talk to an x-box controller.

Ive got a spare Arduino Leonard... buy given the above using MMJoy2 this time isn't going to work.

Any of you chaps know of a method of flashing a Leonardo to arrive on the PC as an Xbox 360 controller?

    EDIT

    Hmm...

That actualy looks like the dificult approach!

Ie build a new peripheral as per normal, and then use an emulator to make windows games see teh nputs as coming from an xbox controller.

What i want is someththing that will turn the arduino board itself something seen as an xbox controller.

    maybe that isnt possible.

right... ordered everyiong I dont alerady have... other than the material to make the cabinet. I hate MDF so it will be marine ply. Oh.. Also i dont have the legs.... because at that price it's starting out on a chair ! The legs for a pinball machine are stupid money!

    as ever... keep ya posted.

Re: DIY Perripherals - This time its PinBall !

Cabinet build is done... just getting incremental layers of paint...

I think 20 wshould be enough.

    wired up the electrics today...

and plugged it in.... and theer it was as an xbox 360 controllerr... and....

    none of the buttons worked.

I figured it out in the end... the pin out on my accelerometer isnt the same as eth guys who designed it.

no amount of cross wiring can get the one i have to work... so... binned that and will get a suitable replacement.

For now its motion sensorless... but working...

i wont be putting this inside the cabinet until enough pain has gone on there...

also waiting on 3d printed parts...

hopefully have it done for some christmas family fun !

    so far so good !!

Still got to wire it up.... but its basically there....

Not sure the accelerometer is working.. didnt seem to in my test so maybe i have to revisit that.

Re: DIY Perripherals - This time its PinBall !

    Mini update.

I wired it up yesterday (still havent got the pulnger sensor mount sorted out so that's waiting... as are the rumble motors.

First crack at it I had all manner of ghosting. Buttons activating other buttons Accelerometer sporadically shutting down joystick taking control of whatever it fancied.

So I took all the very thin wire I was using off in cae it was iterferanace across my spaghettie and re-did it with standard 13 amp mains flex. Only just fits in the screw down terminals on the PCB.

Same problem. seemd to be mostly concentrated between the joystick and the xbox start button... anyway.. long stiory short I took the PCB out of the cabinet again to make certain i hadnt cross soldered an of the terminals. (I hadnt... but I hadnt really cleaned up the flux from teh back of the board either.)

Never had an issue with flux carrying a current before, but after cleaning up everything is working perfectly.

So once again I learn the old lesson of being tidy. Which I have already forgotten again. Happy days !

no need to reimagine it as a toilet flush !!

Re: DIY Perripherals - This time its PinBall !

So... when you order the PinSim PCB you have to get 3 units...

and due to an issue with the manufacture of the PinSim PCBs... (one was cracked) they sent out a spare ... which was printed off centre... so the made another batch.

basically I have 5 spare boards and 3 more spares that are printed off centre.

I anyone else here feels like making one of these units let me know !!

Or might just make them up anyway and bung them on the bay
