Around the World in a Silver Spit!

Imagine piloting a 1943-vintage Spitfire (last flown in 1956) around the world, stopping over in 26 countries! Extra fuel tanks to extend range from 450 miles to 1,000; flying Alaska to Russia via Bering Strait to get past Pacific Ocean, first Spit to overfly Great Wall of China, etc etc.

    What an adventure!

Here's a better video which explains the trip:

    (scroll down page to video)

Their support aircraft is a Pilatus PC-12, similar to this:

It has a high enough cruise speed to easily keep up with the Spit. (328 mph) The Spits cruise is actually lower.

The watches which IWC are releasing as a special edition and which are named after the Spitfire are over 11,000 British pounds each to purchase... nice toy.
