    Gidday From British Columbia .

    Hello all,

I'm an Aussie living in B.C Canada and have been flying ( attempting to ) on CLOD offline for a couple of years.
I think it's time for me to push my luck and venture out and try online.
I would like to thank you all for the info and knowledge that you share on this site. Also for the many hours of
enjoyment I receive watching your aerial battles on you tube . I look forward to being part of this community.

    Wish me luck.

    Regards gman

Re: Gidday From British Columbia .

G'day gman. Good to see another aussie online esp one living in BC. There's a bunch of canadians who fly online and i think some of them live in / near BC. I think some of them take illicit substances and play 24/7 and end up in hospital - hard core crew! ( just kidding - there's a post on this from last week that might make u laugh)

One thing to consider is getting teamspeak as this will significantly accelerate your progress on the learning curve. Its a big step for some talking to randos on the net but everyone on TS flying COD is very helpful / friendly. Good bunch of like minded people.

Hope to see u online soon.

    Ezzie

    Thanks for the welcome guys.
I will certainly get a mic and download team speak.
But just for a little while I'll do a little flying around and get familiar with getting my backside blown out from under me.
    Regards g man.

    Welcome gman.

Plenty of us Aussies getting about here. Also a number of BC guys too. You are in good company mate.

As Ezzie said, get teamspeak sorted and get stuck in.

Sing out if you need a hand.

    Cheers,

    Pattle

Welcome to the Community and Forums gman...~S~

Checkout the 'Beginners Guide'...for info and tips...It will save you a heap of time in getting up to scratch.....and its a really fun learning curve too...

    Beginners Guide

    Windows Management Guide

Also try youtube for startup procedures on all the aircraft...

I recommend getting in the online server as soon as you can take off if that's ultimately where you'd like to fly...I flew single player for 30 minutes before I took the plunge...The ATAG online server is a great environment to learn and there's not really any damage you can do in there as a new player.....It is also mission based just with real players trying to foil your objectives...If you are concerned then pick an airstrip furthest from the front line (there always is one or two on every map) and get some alt before you go hunting...You'll get tagged a lot but there are tricks you learn out of pure desperation in those first few weeks that you'll be able to use later...I know cos I still use the same tricks I learned then too because they work...and never underestimate the stall to get you out of a tight fix...That sometimes works too...

TeamSpeak is optional but you'll learn a whole lot faster with it even if you say very little once you are on the server...You are quite welcome to just listen if you feel more comfortable with that....so you don't actually need a mic either...Try it and see!

Hey, welcome gman! Great to have you here! I just wanted to reiterate what the guys have said about this being a VERY friendly and supportive Community. I think you can tell from the number and quality of posts that we have some outstanding characters here and we all love to welcome and help 'new' pilots. After all, we all remember what it was like to start, and Cliffs of Dover is a 'tough learn.' Getting a mic and downloading Team Speak is a brilliant start and reading ATAG_Lewis' world famous 'Welcome Post' will save you literally 'buckets of time!'

Do let us know how you get on and any help you need, post on this Forum or, better still, speak to anybody on line with Team Speak. It may be a bit daunting speaking for a first time (I remember that well!) but you don't have to until you are ready. If you like, just click on the Channel where everybody is.... and listen to the co operation, the banter, the disasters, the cries of woe, the shrieks of 'No mercy' from Snargle, as his Blenheim plummets to the deck (again!) ...and Snapper's terrible jokes!

Pretty soon you'll be ready for anything and the real fun will begin. Good luck! Hoping to see you in our skies very soon. Salute!
