Cant use custom skins

Hi, I have downloaded a ton of skins again..and have placed in the appropriate CLOD skin folders, but when I go to enable them, although I see the placeholder for them in the playerplan drop down menu, they do not appear in the box showing the selected plane to the left, nor are they working in game..i am running my pc display at 2560x1440, is this the reason I cant see them? Are they only working for 1080p resolutin? Interesting, only the default paint scheme and the first one in the list can I enable, the rest on any of the drop down menus dont show either, otherwise the new 4.54 plays great, thanks!

I even uninstalled the game and reinstalled, same thing..very strange..I cant select any different default paint schemes for any plane whatsoever..

I had the same problem. I re-installed and also verified the game files at Steam. It worked after a couple of tries. You might try it:

Go to Steam. Right click on the game, (which is in list of games). Left click on 'Properties', open the 'Local Files' tab, and click on 'Verify Integrity of Game files'.

Also clear the game cash in Documents/1C SoftClub.

Thanks I'll give it a try, I did verify files..but now will clear game cache...maybe stupid question do I clear the contents of the cache folder or delete the cache folder itself?...thanks again!

Still a no go, verified files three times..cleared cache...I still get only ONE skin of each plane..very irritating as I've never encountered this before...I have tried putting the custom skins in both the softclub document folder and the steamapps skins folder, just wont work .wierd.

Ive placed the custom skins in both folders and reverfied game files many times..put them in the documents softclub skins files for the appropriate plane, and in the steamapps directory where the plane skins belong..I get nothing..I cant even chose among the non custom skins, I can fly one skin per plane. Something is wrong

Are you flying online on a server or in single player?

Some servers do not have custom skins enabled.

Hello, well it was something dumb on my part, when I initially installed the game on my H drive, and uninstalled it and reinstalled it on my C drive, I neglected to delete the 1C Softclub folder in my C/documents folder, this fixed it, then I simply copied and pasted the custom skins into my C:/steam/steamapps/common/paintschemes/skins/(select plane) folder, and worked like a charm! Now, however, im dealing with a joystick/hotas issue..

but I appreciate all the help from the forum, this is still THE best flight sim out there, and computers have now caught up to the game in terms of power both cpu/gpu, and the game being revamped by the mods with the code, its now a happy marriage and I love it..I just cant fly now as my hotas wont respond, and I've tried everything I can think of.
