Are Bf 110s fighters or bombers ?

For the purpose of designating a fighter to attack 110s at a given waypoint, do u set it as "attack fighters" or "attack bombers" ?
Is there a difference in fighter only variants and fighter/bomber variants of 110s for this ? ie If I want fighters to attack 110 C7s or 110C4-Bs does it need to be "attack bombers" ? and for 110 C4s "attack fighters" ?

I would say fighter. AI Bf-110s (including Jabos) will maneuver and engage enemy aircraft, like other AI fighters, while AI bombers stay on their course and rely on their gunners and escorts to deal with the enemy.

What sort of situation are you making, by the way? Bf-110s escorting bombers, Bf-110s being escorted by 109s, or just Bf-110s and no other aircraft (aside from the RAF)?

Re: Are Bf 110s fighters or bombers ?

    Hi Matt,
Just for my online server. I have 110s attacking Manston and Hurricanes and Beaufighters defending. So plotting "attack fighters" on waypoints to get them to engage the 110s.
Just had it in the back of my mind that at one point on ATAG server missions Colander had set it up to give the bomber jocks a fighting chance by disabling bombers from showing up in Tab 7 1 and we would fly 110C7s and not show up in Tab 7 1. Might b mistaken there tho so just thought I'd see if any1 knew what they detect as in game. Not a major issue for my server tho but would b interesting to know for future mission planning.

If I remember correctly, TAB-7-1 used to show all single engine planes as 'fighters' (including Stukas), while all multiengine planes (including 110s) as 'bombers' were invisible.
That's why we received Ezzie's 20 mm greetings over and over again ...

Not sure if this has anything to do with single player missions.

I think when you set your markings in the loadout screen you can pick anything, fighters, bombers, etc. I always picked fighter for my Blennies so I could use YO squadron codes. I don't know though if that selection determined if you showed up on Tab-7-1 though.
