    Question german gunners too good

I have read a lot about the battle of Britain and one thing that comes over very clearly is that an unescorted bomber has very little chance against a spitfire or a hurricane. But in Cliffs of Dover the bomber tends to shoot down the fighter. Is this going to be fixed at some time. If not can current missions be edited to reduce skill level of german gunners?

I have little to none expirience in attacking bombers. However I have many hours in a German bomber. And not once have my gunners saved me from doom.
Are we talking sp or online?
In reality if you come in a straight line towards a gun , well you know. Gunners are there to make aiming difficult but they can be deadly if you give them a chance.

Alternatively, you could learn how to attack a single unescorted bomber such as they did in the Battle of Britain. The problem isnt the games AI skill level.

Some require a high beam attack, others from a front quarter and others again from rear 4 and 8 oclock positions. The problem would lie in your altitude and attack vectors.

They typically don't shoot me down, but I attack starting above and ahead of their 5-7 o-clock. I also don't maneuver after the pass until out of range.

In the video below I get a little greedy, but still managed to get by after re-initiating a dive. Also helps to fly with a buddy if it's online.

If I have a lot of energy and there's 3 or less, I like to zoom up above the formation, roll inverted to get them in sight (out of gun range), and boom and zoom.

Lots of great videos on Youtube too.

Don't get discourage by getting shot down.

It's not an easy sim to master, but that's what makes it so fulfilling.

(I have just about 4000h and I don't have it mastered yet)

And it IS up to the mission builder to set the skill level of the gunners. Typically, approaching bomber formations alone from a slow dead 6 position will only result in your demise, probably b4 u even get a shot off. A more survivable challenge is to do a head on attack and take out the pilot, difficult but awfully satisfying when u take down a bomber with a 1-2 second burst.

    Re: german gunners too good

Actually it is too easy to shoot down aircraft in general and bombers in particular in most simulations.

CoD is trying to address that.... and in TF 5.0, it will be more difficult to shoot down aircraft, especially bombers.

If you look at the stats for combat during the BoB or even for the Battle of Germany... the numbers of aircraft shot down as a percentage of each side's forces are much lower than in typical games.

20% losses historically were considered catastrophic... (as in the Schweinfurt Raid by the USAAC where unescorted bombers were attacked by larger numbers of fighters... or certain raids by the Luftwaffe on London) whereas in the game losses can often be 100% for a group of attacking bombers.

Historically Bombers were most often shot down by a combination of attackers... many different attacking fighters.... with the cumulative damage causing the loss.

Is there a danger that by making it more difficult to shoot down aircraft you will discourage new players?

People can set the experience level of the gunners at whatever they want... they can all be rookies.

That will be the case with Quick Missions.

The bombers will still be more durable, but players can come up behind and hammer them without too many worries about getting shot.

But to make bombers fall apart with a couple bursts is not realistic.

TF's focus is on making as realistic a simulation as possible... we are not here to make a clone of War Thunder.

    Re: german gunners too good

In the case of my video, if I would have switched sides and sat in the tailgun, it would have been fairly easy to walk my stream right into the Beaufighter's flight path. I think our gunners online are currently more effective than the AI, so increasing their accuracy wouldn't bother me a bit.
