Never heard of it, but I am a HUGE fan of Das Boot, I have the DVD and Blu Ray plus the extended version (the best) plus the book. I have watched the movie easily 20 times if not more. Thanks for the heads up. You play SH3?

    Re: Das boot

    Hi heinz,

The original 'Das Boot' was excellent and a classic submarine film.

Having watched six episodes of the Sky series it is good but the depth of tension and claustrophobic feeling portrayed in the original is missing. The fact that it has introduced other sides into the storyline might be the reason.

Some of the scenes are less than authentic. People wandering the streets of La Rochelle at all times of night. A curfew would have been in place. Lights blazing away in streets and buildings for instance. If only the RAF had that kind of help during the war.

There are other things but this is not the place to discuss them.

All in all I find it watchable but it tends to display undesirable traits. The latest 'Dunkirk' film and more recently 'Hurricane' ,which I couldn't bother to finish watching, come to mind.

I've seen 3 episodes so far, but so far it's failing to grip me the same as the original, I'll give it some more time and see what happens

Hey Meyer....does this mean a transfer to the Kriegsmarine is in the offing? Are you shedding the lederhosen for navy slops.....and been 'nibbling doughnuts with Doernitz?' Can the Reds now 'fly easy in their Spits?' Or is this really the incentive for TFS to introduce Coastal Command sub-killers?

(Actually, we don't want to lose you! The Fatherland ......and 'Cliffs of Dover' needs you!) Salute!

I got confused, I thought the tv show was called Sky Atlantic, but that is the broadcaster, the show is still called Das Boot.
