My lil (real) Tiger Moth adventure

Finally got to cash in my Christmas present from my son n daughter-in-law.
Only a 15 minute flight but the most fun I've had since crawling thru Egyptian burial chambers in 2007.
The one thing u experience right from takeoff is the buffeting. Not a windy day at all but the Tiger Moth is so light u feel every bit of turbulence.
Only went up to 1500ft but a great view of the Cessnock part of the Hunter Valley vineyards. The best part was the landing. A long side-slip with a slightly fast descent as the air kinda disappeared from under us a bit. Really cool to be heading for the ground at what looks like 45 degree sideways angle and then a qwik release of the slip to line up with the runway and touch down. Thrilling stuff.

    Lucky you!
    That was a wonderful present.

Decades ago I had the luck to be a passenger in a Bükker Jungmeister.
This is one of the most eciting and vivid memories of my whole life.

Torian, what a thrill for you I'm sure!

Looks like you had a beautiful day for it.

    Your grandson in the cockpit?

Reminds me of the time I visited a Lebanese Catacomb about 2.5hrs outside of Beirut.

Phoenician king I believe from around 5 AD.

What? You thought I was going to post about the plane? I want to hear about the Egyptian burial chambers!

Ah yes, that was grandson Number 4. At 2 he is a keen flight sim enthusiast but he won’t be getting live ammunition until he is 5.

@Spook...3rd or 4th Dynasty “mustaba” tombs (before they cottoned on to pyramids) at Saqqara if memory serves me. Big stone slabs on the surface but the burial chamber is underground and made to be inaccessible originally so u get to do a bit of crawling to get in there. Would do Egypt again in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Great memories.

If you've got a spare $10,000 dollars, you can fly a B-25 Mitchell.

    This one:

Included in the package is flying a T-6 Texan trainer and a F7f-3 Tigercat twin engined fighter.

I hope TFS 6.0 will be just a bit cheaper than $10,000 dollars

$500 as a passenger for 20 minutes this part of town......

    $200 for the Tiger Moth
    $3,500 for the Lanc.

Or I can drive you around and show you the local sites for $50 (one free coffee included!)

Seriously, if you are in the area I'd be happy to take you for a tour.....
