    A problem with FMB.

    Hi,

    I am doing a training package for low level navigation. The idea is to recreate the training film "Nought Feet". The CloD map doesn't reach enough far north, but at least most of the check points are there. My problem is that the game crashes every time just north of Salisbury. at first I though the problem was the map corrections I made (There are some rail and roads, and the Town of Cirencester; missing.) but even on the Autumn map I still have the same problem.

    BTW I can't find the "knee-board" form used on that video, right now I am using excel to recreate it but the form is too blurry at some legends. Also, I find a similar GSGS map for 1940 but the scale is different. If someone has the proper documentation it would be a great help.

    Thanks.

    This sounds an interesting project Werwolf. "Nought Feet", a wartime training film made by the RAF Film Production Unit is a classic.

    Had a look at the possibility of doing something along similar lines myself but as you say the map does not go as far North as Cheltenham (the 'Objective' in the film) or show Cirencester.

    As for the form used by the pilot to plan his flight it is difficult to identify as no 'RAF Form No.' is visible. The 'Form 2330' printed on the flight plan form is a Met Forecast form. As with a lot of these aircrew forms they were one use 'flimsies'. I doubt any originals of any of these forms still exist although copies might be held in The National Archives or by the RAF Museum at Hendon.

    Good luck with the project. Keep us up to date here.

    What you mean with "kneebaord form"?

    A template for print or an in game feature like in DCS World*?

    Best map for navigation in CloD is the one in ...\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz\Printable Airfields

    * For this case an "workaround" for this is note waypoints on back of map using the "briefing.txt" - similar to this:

    Re: A problem with FMB.

    @1lokos,

    The kneeboard was a small tablet attached to the pilot's leg to make flight annotations. I am trying to recreate the form used on the video.

    @Vampire,

    I will gladly share the whole package here, hope I will get permission. I will continue the work although the problem with my PC, maybe others can run the mission without problem. As soon as possible I will made the package public as a work in progress (specially with my horrible English grammar.)

    The package will include:

    Maps for England South 1940 and 1943, Series 3957 (Smaller scale maps up to Swindon.) Done.
    Map with the pencil traces as seen on the video.

    The video on two parts, extracted from ChampionFx YouTube channel. I think this is OK, He gave permission before. Done.
    The Kneeboard form. Original, Clean and no wind version. There was two winds that day, one over the channel and another over land but with no equal speeds on the departure and returning leg, most likely to no laminar winds at low altitude. The mission will run without winds.
    Video's audio to text with my annotations (but don't trust my judgment.)

    The mission map with the corrections needed to correspond the video.

    Yes, why I mention DCS, there I can take "notes" in pilot leg kneeboard:

    Re: A problem with FMB.

    I am suspecting a problem with the map. When I zoom to texture level near the border of the map the game crashes on the FMB.
