Gaming headset v studio headphones or consumer headphones

    Hi all,

Spent the last couple of days researching my next set of headphones.

What are the thoughts of the community and what are you using?

Local store has the Hyperx Cloud Alpha for $130 Aus. Has great reviews, then I started looking at similar prices studio/consumer headphones. I have a seperate mic so don't need headphones with one necessarily.

But my search has opened a Pandora's box.

Recommendations appreciate. My budget is $150 Aus, so about $110 Euro/US as a guide.

    Cheers,

    Pattle.

I'm using a Hyperx Cloud (KHX-HSCP-GM). The sound is good, surround works well and they're comfortable. The only issue I have is that the mike sound volume can only be adjusted (AFAIK) by the inline "Advanced Audio Control Box". Can't adjust in Windows "Recording Devices". I just have to remember to press the button in the inline box (i think the cat sometimes steps on it and people complain in TS that my volume is low).

Have purchased Hyperx Cloud II for my son, and we both like them.

Won't comment on mine as they are older, and haven't owned other gaming headsets Pat.

But the pair (actually 2 pair) that he has are comfortable and sound quality seems pretty good.

One of them had the mic stop working, but i have not read of that being a problem for many others.

If you have private sound space for gaming and desire realism:

    Surround speakers for game sounds.

Decent quality earbuds for communications receiver are much more comfortable than headsets over time.

Microphone on a lightweight headset or cap works well for transmitting.

This setup allows voice activated control responses in the earbuds for max realism.
