    german bomb fuses

So in the bomb loadout screen (109b's) we have a multiple choice questionnaire on what type of bomb rack and what fuse / delay setting.

My question is what one do i need to select for the thing to go off in good time, make a smoking hole and not kill me in the process?

Forgive my ignorance on all things Blue related.

    TYVM in advance.

For the 109 you want low level fuses, no arming delay. And remember to ARM your bombs. If you have no lights on the bomb panel you have not armed your bombs, or you have dropped them all. If you're carrying four 50kg bombs you can select single or salvo. Don't worry about being hit, there is a 14 second delay.

Did the Germans have an instant detonation fuse, and if so which one is it?
    Cheers

For German bombs there are two time parameters. There is a delay between when the bomb is dropped and when it's armed, zero seconds for low level fuses. Then there is the delay between when the bomb hits the ground and when it explodes, 14 seconds for low level fuses.

If you use high level fuses the first delay is three seconds, I think, but the bomb goes off immediately when it hits the ground. If you are doing low altitude bombing your bombs will probably hit the ground in less than three seconds so they will not be armed.

Note that this is in addition to arming the bomb before you drop it.

if i'm bombing ships the 14second delay isn't good for something that is moving. So what one would be advisable in that situation?

and thanks again for the responses.

The zero and short delay fuse on german bombers is supposed to be controlled with a switch in the cockpit, however that isn't working yet in cliffs of dover.
Low level fuses therefore are always 14 seconds, just aim for the front or the bridge.

I dive down and drop them on the deck, 14 seconds gives me time to turn and watch the fireworks. I've seen people skip bombing and the bomb gets lodged in the hull and goes off.

Instant fuses are generally not a good choice for low level attacks as the bombing plane can easily be damaged.
