    Machine Guns Only Fire Occasionally.

    Hi all,

Apologies if this has been posted before. I have been away for a couple of years. (Not a prison sentence).

I have a MSFF stick and Windows 10. The game runs on Steam.

The guns only fire after four or five attempts. The aircraft flown are the Hurricane and Spitfire. Very frustrating when I line up on a 109 only to find that the guns fail me

Perhaps now is the time to buy a new stick??

    Best Regards,

Had this exact same thing on a Thrustmaster Warthog when I first started playing.

It was the trigger button. both stages....

I assumed for way too long that it was a "guns jammed" type thing... modelled in game.

but it was just a rubbish switch. The first of five as it goes... in as many years. Not good.

    Quick Check:

Bind a button on your keyboard... when the guns "jam" try your backup guns !

and then you will know for sure.

Incidentally... when buying replacement switches and buttons for a Warthog (throttle or grip)... I'd suggest getting them from anyone other than Thrustmaster / Guillemot

You will pay 10 times less for one thing and they will actually work as well... which is handy.

Or if building your own stuff too.

RS in the uk are good for commercial kit... also used switches from RAF panels which are excellent and also used ex US military switches which are a lot cheaper here than our own UK equivalents... same quality as far as I can tell

Failure of micro-switch under MS FFB2 trigger is a relatively common issue.

The switches used (in MSFF2) are Omron 150g actuation tactile jobs. They are available from Digi-Key.

The ones for the hat are Digi-Key part number SW408-ND (Omron # B3F3122) and are $0.36 each (4 required).

The switches for the stick buttons other than the trigger are Digi-Key part number SW401-ND (Omron # B3F1002) and are $0.26 each (3 required).

The trigger switch is Digi-Key part number SW426-ND (Omron B3M6009) and are $0.71 each (1 required).

    Good call.

I selected the space bar and it worked!

Perhaps a dose of WD40 could do the trick?? My stick has been with me since 2001 and deserves a Long Service Medal.

    Thanks again.

Don't use WD40. Check Sokol's post, get the right replacement part. https://www.digikey.com/
