Hunter Valley Airshow - Day 2

    Hi all,

I would love to have shared with you many great pics from the day.

The great Australian weather wasn't the cause. In fact day 2 was exactly like day 1.

It was the crowd of people, not just enjoying the event, but in checking out and having a go at Cliffs of Dover. All day!!!

From about 9.30am to event close at 4pm, Torian and I would have had 30 minutes to ourselves. Torian was the only one of us lucky to sneak a lunch in.

Day 2 started nice and early with a 7am tour of the flight line, hosted by one of Australia's top Warbird photographers, Mark Jessop. https://mynikonlife.com.au/news/gear/the-air-up-there/

I will post some of the few photo's taken tonight.

Torian really looking down the barrel!

The gates opening for the event turned into flood gates for us. DD Sheriff dropped into what was literally a room full of people having a go or in line waiting.

Many kids also had a fly, watched on by very happy and photo snapping parents with massive smiles, watching their young chargers getting stuck in.

Was great seeing people wanting to try and land. I enjoyed giving instruction and watching the sense of achievement on the faces of those that survived it!

It was great having the Hurricane outside our door, as we could say to the kids, see that Hurricane, jump in and lets fly it! Worked a treat.

    And I mean literally outside!

    IMG_1047.JPG

Later in the afternoon I switched from the joystick to yoke, with a highlight for me watching an 8 yr girl flying a Heinkel! And doing a good job, with a bit of coaching. Her parents were absolutely thrilled.

Plenty wanted to give a 109 a run to use the cannon's. I had my $50 bargain surround sound system and subwoofer turned right up. The sound and the air rush coming out of there was awesome.

Lost count of how many people had a taste of what Cliffs had to offer yesterday. 100+ easily. Many openly commenting and in awe of how good it looked.

One guy was super excited to hear that a flyable Wellington will be in 5.0 as his grandfather flew them in the war.

Best of all, we have been invited back when the event is back on!

Thanks again to Torian for hanging our and representing our community. Was great to see you again mate.

    Cheers,

    Pattle

Gordon Bennet, Pat! Sounds like you'll be glad when you've had enough! Quite a day for all of you but, my god, I think you've done really well!

It was great that you had support from Torian and Cybermat just in fielding the numbers must have been quite a task. Let's hope we have some serious 'takers' cos I'm sure you've earned a few!

    Well done, Guys! Salute!

    Tremendous initiative, gents.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then sitting down in a virtual Hurri ‘pit and having a go yourself must be worth a million!

Nice stuff Pattle (and Torian and Cybermat)

I'll have to come across the ditch sometime to check out the Aussie airshows sometime, I think you guys are sending some F-18s over here for the Omaka Classic Fighters show in a few weeks (which I am super-excited about)

We were lucky to see the F18 both days. Yesterday, it was only display I saw all of as it was the end of the show.

Unbelievable, what that pilot did and stay in control.

Sounds as though the second day was even busier Pat.

It would be surprising if some of those that came 'through your doors' didn't have a serious look at the sim.

Very well done to you and Torian for all your hard work.

    Thanks chaps.

    Would be brilliant Bruv.

To get this kicked off last year at Scone, that lead to this year at Cessnock, I just found the right person to ask and went hard.

Sell the sim and aircraft that match the air show / sell the experience for the punters going / say it will be free. If you get a bite, send them some You Tube videos. ACG's The Beginning of the End is incredibly beneficial as its smacks of emotion and pride, and go from there.

I would love to be in a position to have a crack at the Duxford organisers

Marlow, imagine how much better the sim at the Maidenhead museum would go, if they had Cliffs instead of flying in Flight Sim X world!

Just had a look at the cockpit of the Kittyhawk in the first pic. Near looks like a silhouette of someone inside.

Pat, That first pic reminds me of the New Dawn Fades map, when you spawn in and its all hazy , great pictures. We dont get too many airshows over in western aus these days, but now and again i spot an RAAF f18 screaming down the coastline which is always a nice site.
