    Help! Need fictitious squad letters!

    Hi folks,

I need a Hurricane with the letters R - RY (which no BOB squadron used, unfortunately for me).

Reason: a buddy of mine has a Hurricane tattoo’d to his arm with these letters. Apparently his grandfather flew Hurries at some point during WW2 (I have no info on that). Eric had R - RY as the letters on his tattoo in honour of his young son, Rory.

I was planning to make a little video from a simple mission I created in the FMB that I would post in YouTube for he and his son to enjoy. Basically, making his tattoo “come to life”.

Can anyone here tweak a Hurri skin for me with those letters?

I can do that for you, Snapper.

It won’t be until tomorrow night, though.

If someone can help sooner, go ahead.

I’ll need to see which hurricane you want modified.

    That would be wonderful, DRock.

There is no rush on this. Just a little fun project I thought of, with no timeline in mind.

Let me know is you want more detailing, as well as the R - RY.

    Nope!

But if you could explain how I can use your file in a FMB mission, then I’d be forever grateful Pretend you’re explaining this to a developmentally-challenged snapping turtle....

    That looks great!

I tried to paste it into my hard drive, but the Super Glue seems to be seizing everything up....

    1. Click on the icon above. This will open a new window with a bigger image.
    2. Right-click on the bigger image and select "save image as". Put it on your desktop.
    3. Once done, locate the file on your desktop. It should be named "Hurry RORY.jpg"
    4. Right-click on it, and select "copy".
    5. Go to your folder "...\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\PaintSchemes\Skins"
    6. Select the folder corresponding to the Hurricane that you want to modify (unless you already added skins it should be empty).
    7. Open it, right click and select "paste". You should now have a copy of the file in this folder.
    8. Go back to CLoD, and you should now have the "Hurry RORY.jpg" as a skin option.
    9. Select it. Uncheck the box "Markings".
    10. Voilà.

Re: Help! Need fictitious squad letters!

    Noofy, ya done good.

Back in the ‘70’s I worked in research for a major booze company. (Hey, I loved my job...)

One of our routine tasks was to write up, update, and tweak our analytical wet chemical and instrumentation lab procedures. That’s exactly how we did it - assume the reader/lab tech knows nothing. It’s far better to have them skip over a few steps rather than waste time scratching their heads and possibly making a technical error.

Hey, how are you at writing up aviation manuals?

    He is probably brilliant

but... I'm showcasing me right now so....

    ahem...!

    OK LISTEN UP

    I SAID LISTEN UP DAMMIT

    Thank you....

    so as i was saying

    Manual flight...

    well..

a good flapp is a fine start...

    and frankly a run up..

you will definitly need a bit of run up for manual flight...

and some seriously strong flapping. It's all in the elbows

as long as you think elbows... you will be just fine... up in no time

SO... ok.. lets do this then

    Squadron #1

yep... that's it... at the far side of the roof...

ok... and ... start off gently and then yes.. that's it... now build it up a bit.....

Flapping... you are doing really well... and run faster.. and FLAP...

A bit faster.. RUN FASTER and FLAPP...

    OK.

    So..

    Squadron #2

I think we all learned a lot there. Collectively. So...

    OK..

far side of the roof... that's it... looking good guys.......

    please don't me down ok...

    it's all in the elbows...

    and....

Now that’s interesting. I produce my own booze at home. We’ll have to open a separate thread on the topic in the General - Pilots Bar section...
