FS2020 anyone?
FS2020 anyone?
Good grief, I'm not even that old and I am amazed recently by what "kids" are doing with graphics/physics engines these days!!
What monster will people need to run this puppy at full steam I wonder?
I didn't even know there was already a NVIDIA 2080ti out
Dunno whether to be amazed or terrified, on second thought considering the nature of the subject (a flight simulator) probably amazed![]()
Giraffes! This sim has...GIRAFFES!!!![]()

As an X-Plane 11 man, I am stunned at the quality of those graphics.
Freaking outstanding!

Not sure it is possible to achieve these quality of graphics in a combat simulator with a lot of aircraft present... especially not multiplayer.
Look at DCS... also very nice graphics, but has a problem with large numbers of aircraft... especially in multiplayer.
I actually was not impressed with the 'on the ground' visual quality when they have to do everything in 3d...
Take a look carefully at the visual quality at :36 of the below video:
It is only when the aircraft gets to altitude that the eye candy starts to happen, most of that due to the fact they are using real overflight imagery adapted to the game.... but there is very limited 3D detail... it is mostly 2D.
Here's another video I found on youtube.... is this the same game?

Looks considerably less impressive.
I think it is really necessary to actually fly the game and see how they have handled the transition between 3d and 2d.
Considering how much money Microsoft has, and how many copies of Flight Simulator they have sold, they certainly had the money to pull out all the stops.
Really looking forward to this one.
Only hassle it will most likely be subscription-based.
Ye cannot own this...
I believe what makes it work so well is the cloud based computing from windows.
crap and I just switched everything over to X Plane a year ago
Asus Z390 MB, 32 GB Corsair RAM, 850 W Power Supply, Intel Core i7 9700K GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8 G and about a dozen squirrels running on a wheel that I sometimes forget to feed !
This is looking better and better.
I'm actually really looking forward to this now, especially since probably for the first time since 2002 I have a PC capable of running high end games.

I've been subbed to this guys channel for years, but Rostic posted this first in our Russian forums so credit to him for that
In CloD something is throwing me off when climbing, it looses contrast so quickly that at 500 meters it is already quite grey but I am not sure if thats a problem with the ground textures, the spare use of trees, the atmosphere or all 3 together
In all the FS2020 footage i have seen so far everything looks perfect, and i mean perfect
But i am not sure what exactly does this, if anyone else sees this, Id be interested on your thoughts on it, just thought id post this here since FS2020 looks so natural in that regard
edit: I think alot of it is due to the tree model itself, looking at the vid slipstream posted at 24:37 makes the difference visible
Anyways, FS2020 is going to come in like a bomb
When they where asked wether or not it will be a subscription model they didnt want to answer it, but honestly someone needs to run the servers for the scenery so i could imagine a mixed model along the the lines of "Pay for the sim, rent the scenery"

Molders I actually can. I flew full size for 25 years and after a stroke in 2014 I can no longer fly, so the flight sim feeds that different kind of flying, where I can create and file in IFR flight plan, follow " ATC air traffic control" in crappy weather and successfully complete a flight . totally different emersion that clod

I am hoping to have the time to fly this new Sim from Microsoft, if only to see what the competition offers.
I expect they will release a 'Combat Flight Simulator' at some point.

Couple comments about their advances.
They are only just catching up to games like CoD/BoX/DCS now... some of their advances will move them ahead, some only bring them up to our level.
Their graphics are unquestionably top notch, they have put a lot of money into those after lagging behind a lot.
Areas which civilian flight sims don't have model are damage and weapons and all the graphics involved with those... as well as the effect on the aerodynamics of the aircraft which results from damage.
They also don't have to model complex AI behaviour... the aircraft you see in the sky around you will follow simple routines. Not to mention all the vehicles/ships.
And finally, they are not doing a multiplayer environment... which is extremely demanding of the code.... managing hundreds of aircraft and vehicles over a limited bandwidth.
Because they don't have to worry about the above, they can focus on a limited number of elements to simulate... that makes their job easier.
Yes it looks impressive, but as for Combat Flight Sim... I not so sure. Currently, MS have a "PG" company feel to me....but time will tell..
They have a lot on their plate with the current simulation with just trying to add VR, ATC, Multicrew, Rotary Wing, etc...
As for those fantasic visuals, a lot of people will probably just want to test their CATIII flying skills... So with RVR set to DH you don't get to see much..
