Anybody experiencing Black Screen of Death Since win 10 update?

It has become impossible to play Blitz.

Mid-Game, there'l be a fizzle sound and screen goes black while PC goes into some overdrive and the only way forward is to reset PC.

I am now playing Cysis 2 instead of Blitz, where I need to be? This can't be the end of my CLOD Days

Im a win7 user so this may not apply. But one of my symptons of pc failure - which has reoccured in the last 2 weeks- is the fizzle sound followed by either a screen freeze or rebooting. Afterwards i cant boot the pc.

What i have done in the past is to take out my graphics card and ram sticks and reinstall then making sure they are firmly seated. Also did the same with power plugs. I did this on the weekend and finally got my pc restarted. I left it on for 12 hours and no reboots etc but didnt try cod.

So if you havent done so already maybe try the above and see what happens.

Also ATAG_Soldat was having some issues recently which he thought - the last time i spoke to him- may have been due to a driver conflict involving his sound system. I cant recall the details but he might swing by this thread and explain what he discovered.

I had this pretty badly for a while. I went into my power management settings in Windows and basically changed what I could to full power, instead of anything that resembled any type of power conservation.

I also think setting my full screen mode to 'Pseudo' helped with a ton of issues too.

During midday I was flying ok for half an hour. 6 hours later after spawning at DangerDogz fizzle sound, black screen, engine sound still audible. Afterwards 'Launcher failure' message.

Second try, cache cleared again, start game, selct server, some seconds afterwards fizzle sound etc.

Third try, computer shut down and started again, thistime single player, start mission after some seconds again all of the above but now the whole thing got stuck at the black screen stage, no message "Launcher Failure". No response to any key or other input. Had to shut down the computer manually.

I feel a tad better that I'm not alone in this.

I've uninstalled Blitz till further notice.
I thought the MOD version was safe until tonight, now I can't even play that one. All my other games play fine. Crysis 2, Aliens versus Predator.

Don't want to tinker in the hardware just yet.

I don't know why I suspect win 10, but who knows for sure?

I'm om Win 10 and similar symptoms. Fizzle sound, black screen and here laboured PC (maybe fan) sound have to do a hard reset to boot up again.

People who should know told me that it is most probably a grphik card/ cooling issue.
It got worse until the computer does not start anymore.
Have to buy a new on.

but to run this software I would need a computer that runs.
And it doesn`t anymore. Can't even start it.

No choice for me, I ordered a new one.
Hopefully it will arrive by end of the week.

I did not realize it was that bad.
Does the PC not start even if you remove the faulty GPU card?

That's bad news. But Hopefully the new one is an upgrade for you that will do a good job for you over the next few years DerDa.

But quite a pain setting up a new rig tho......

The rig was 5 years old already so it was about time to get a new one. I just hoped it would go on for another year or so.

Expenses like this are never welcome, but I need it for work as well, so ...
well, I decided if I have to buy something it might as well be something good.
