TFS Developer Update 29 June, 2019 - Spitfire Vb Tropical

Showcasing one of the new flyable aircraft for IL-2 Cliffs of Dover 5.0.

The highly anticipated Spitfire Vb Tropical variant.

Update also includes new sounds and the new theater, North Africa.

A more in depth look at the Vb will be released in the near future.

The North Africa map is still in Alpha. It does not include the new cloud systems and weather, or other details such as rock formations or rocky abuttments, distance views, etc. etc. which will be seen in the final version.

Re: TFS Developer Update 29 June, 2019 - Spitfire Vb Tropical

That strafing run! Wow! Looks awesome guys. The 109's wings being blown apart looks really cool as well.

Didn't the Spit V have the thicker canopy bars on the windscreen though? Or am I wrong.

And sad to see still that the control surfaces catching fire means you get the kill on an AI with them bailing instantly and the wingman saying "I'll confirm that" or something similar like "Nice shot" etc. I think this bug is in the bugtracker though so I'm confident it can be squashed!

Very, very impressive! And nicely presented - even in 4K!

Some more videos and information of this kind and my hype plane lifts off!

Re: TFS Developer Update 29 June, 2019 - Spitfire Vb Tropical

Haven't dropped in here for a while and what a cowincky dink! There is a new update video. WOW! The contrast between the ocean and the desert is very nice, and you say this is an Alpha run. Oh My, you have me drooling to see the finished map. The Trop Spitty is awesome looking. As soon as I heard the Spitty approaching to take off at the beginning of the video I noted, "NEW Sounds!" Very nice indeed. I hope you guys can pull this off for Christmas this year. Maybe some would like to see the screen grabs I took, so here are a few. Pat, if for any reason you want me to take these down, please either edit my post and delete or send me a PM and I will delete later this evening. It sure is looking good though.

The VC and all future derivatives had the internal armoured windscreen with the three piece flat panel:

The VB is still fundamentally a Mk I.

Interesting, it seems the Spit V could follow the 109F only because the german plane had deployed the flaps.....

    Top stuff!

New plane and sounds in one video, this I am rather chuffed about!

Thought I had addressed this post, but apparently hadn't replied. Always good to wake up in the morning with a YT notification of a new TFS update

Also great to hear the starter on the inside of the cockpit on the Martlet update too!

    Top work TFS,
And cheers Pattle for getting us these updates

    LOD_00-07ish.
    Damage LOD_00-07ish
    Caps_00-07ish
    OutCaps_00-07ish
    X hitboxes
    Xx hitboxes
    So on.

A lot can be done with shading and texturing to get the desired look for half the tris.

Is there a particular reason tho why the textures are in such a low resolution? It Looks like a 2k Texture for the bump atleast

That would be an incredibly useful update, one of the most annoying features of the current graphics is the horrendous banding in the sky.
Would be great to have that fixed with having to use a 3rd party injector.

    LizLemon managed it on BoX

    https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic...d-banding-fix/

I know it's a different game but it shows that a small fix can make a big difference.
