    Hello Mastiff!

I do have a GTX 560 and i improved my dot visibility using your setup (no crashes here). The dots do not disapear easily at certain distance. Thank you! Keep coming with more hints.

    S!

New beta drivers 314.14 has made a big improvment, higher frames scince the new TF patch
I turned the AA up to 16XQ and the scenes are way better.

How far out are dots visible in COD anyway? Would think anything past 5-7 miles is pretty unrealistic when spotting a single fighter plane.

    Hello Mastiff

I'm looking to improve my set-up by trying these settings on my 560Ti card. I'm ok with changing the in game and control panel settings but I just wondered what were the main changes you made to the Conf file and what they achieve?

I assume I should be looking to mirror your settings in-game, control panel and conf file?

    Regards

under the pic is a config.ini txt file those are my settings.
Also I went back to 4xsssample and 8x csaa, as I noticed the higher settings cause the klingon cloaking devices to lod disapear.

using meshlod=1 is an old CoD hack that people initially started using to try and play around with improving aircraft LoD model visibility. i forget the exact technical detail of how it works, but in short it is a hack that is very indiscriminate (eg it doesnt just affect aircraft lod model's being drawn in the game) and has a major frame rate hit (as the OP noticed). it also had a number of other graphical artifacts it induced, cant exactly remeber what.

for people with monster pc's it might not matter using it (even if it has unwanted side effects on visibility of other objects), but it isnt a usable solution for most people who are simply trying to improve object visibility in-game. there have been lengthy discussions on this at 1C's forum, and the eventual conclusion for most people is that it is not a usefull solution to improve aircraft dot/lod visibility.

    Hi,

I'm new to all this. I've just installed the 3.0, 301 and 4.0 TF patches, and now I'm ready to tweak the graphics up. With the conf file mentioned in the OP of this thread....where do I place it! Apologies if I'm being thicker than a Whale omlette!

    Hi and welcome

you dont "place it". you have to edit the conf.ini file located in: C:\Mydocuments\YOURPCNAME\1c Cliffs of Dover - MOD

You should have 2 folders there. The one you want to go it has " -MOD" in the name.

Look ther for the conf.ini file

    Marvellous! Many thanks!

I first came across this game when it came out. I tried it, found it to be wanting and shelved it. I've come back to it several years later and it seem to have improved!

if you get anomalies it's best to run the REDSIT folder aps, dotnetfx40 and direct x c.

NVIDIA 313.96 are running great do a clean install with a driver sweeper and run it a couple of times. I had a hell of a time getting nvidia driver cleaned out.

Thank you for these settings Mastiff. This thread was started in 2013, and I'm wondering if there has been consensus reached on the best NVIDEA settings. In particular, i would like to decrease the shimmering that is seen in the distance. It seems to be a give up to get situation though, with one setting improving quality in one area, but decreasing it in another, for example, decreasing the ability to spot contacts.
